Thank you so much! That will really help. When I was evacuated, my work which is remote also stopped for a while until I could get a temporary workstation set up. So this will help with things like groceries and the amount I lost which dropped me under my rent cost.
The good news is that the incident manager in his morning report said "anticipating good news" regarding my evacuation zone. So I'm crossing my fingers!

I'm now an evacuee for the first time. #GoldMountainFire , Ouray, CO.
I saw its beginning, at .1acre. I saw it turn the corner, climb the cliffs and drop down them. I saw it race along until it was consuming the last shelf above our neighborhood. We got the order 2:50 after its start.
Today at noon it was 570 acres. Not even 12 hours after, it's now 5200 acres. Winds gusting to 50, 11% humidity.
We are at the point in finding out how unforgiving Mother Nature is when we abuse her.

I saw ball lightning as a kid. One of the freakiest things I've ever seen. I believe it has magnetic properties so it doesn't just go in a straight line, which is even weirder.

The crazy thing about programming is you write a routine that works well, so you use something similar for a whole bunch of other routines.
Then you move to something else and all of a sudden one of those routines doesn't work, while the others do.
So you have to sit there and stare at it for hours figuring out the mechanics of why it worked, before you can figure out why it no longer works.

A spaceship lands on an alien planet with intelligent beings. The beings direct the ship to a landing pad some distance away from their city.
When the platform opens, the beings discover that the ship is populated only by robots. They greet each other.
"Where are you from?"
"Earth."
"Congratulations on acquiring interstellar technology."
"Thank you."
#Singularity #AI #DangersOfAI
"How come the beings who built this ship didn't accompany you?"
"They started building it. We finished."

I have a technical question for all the devs, server admins, techies out there.
I'm in the US, my client is in Europe.
The domain resides in Europe.
The Website/VPS Server/host resides in the US.
Nameservers are not propagating to US locations. I ran the various DNS through a checker.
My client in Europe can see the website. Support in India can see the website. I can't. "Server not found".
Is anyone experiencing similar issues, or knows how to resolve this?

Corporate/wealthy owned social media is realistically a very small slice of the free-speech pie.

The cost of doing *small* business.
My dream was to be a professional musician. I was a keyboardist and a pretty good one. I was usually in more than 1 band at a time for years.
I kept that musicians dream alive well beyond my technology stint. But my backup dream was to be a web developer.

I've also been observing this, and I think I have an answer that would fit nicely with quite a few .
I spend a lot of effort maintaining my health (sans insurance) and working harder and harder to afford necessities.
All the while, landlords raise rent, corporations take more and more, and advertisers tell you that it's wonderful that you're buying from them.
I decided that to save energy and sanity, I would restrict my morals to my fellows in the population who struggle as I do.

Totally agree with you. When I see the cabinet choices that were made, they weren't impulsive, tey were planned.
I don't know if Trump is going to attempt to make good on his promise to deconstruct the election process to where he can stay in office indefinitely, but nevertheless, we're about to see a systemic and political upheaval where nothing will be recognizable.

Nice article. It's good to see an openly positive write up about the future of our possible interoperability rather than a constant beat-down of Threads/Bluesky.
For sure, they need a healthy amount of criticism, but it's a plus if you look at it in the perspective of better connections and communication.

JFC. There is no definition of a woman, or man, or anyone with any kind of sexual orientation, clothing preference, color or race.
I can define one thing though. Supreme court justices are piece of shit fascist racist bigots who are not qualified to make identity based decisions for anyone else.

It is a real possibility that war exacts a heavier toll on the climate than all the top polluting industries and wealthy combined. Yet no one has to tally the results, and it is barely publicized.
Countries fighting, or aiding and abetting war are fast-tracking catastrophic conditions with literally zero culpability.
But war is good for the economy, right?

There is a saying among studio engineers when a musician can't nail their part "we'll fix it in the mix".
Hardly anyone gets this, but our society can't be "fixed in the mix". A democratic election 5 years from now isn't going to make everything peachy.
It's already destroyed, we're just coasting down the road until we come to a stop.
Now's the best chance to rip out all the broken shit (like almost everything) and rebuild it from the ground up.

Yeah I get that. I did my share of drugs but never overindulged. Never had a tendency towards addiction. I was the mediator, the go-between keeping my friends from doing stupid shit. I can't say I never did stupid shit, but them, way worse.
I stayed in that neutral territory, never really fitting in to any other group. Now that I see the big picture I offer hints to try and keep the population from jumping off a cliff, but I get looks like I'm intruding on their fun. Oh well...

I've been watching videos of dashcam traffic accidents (don't know why I got started). But it's a great indicator of how bad people's attention spans and decision making can be.
Hint: It's so bad there's no hope of survival, and I'm not talking about the accidents themselves.

The only legitimately helpful things I've seen for the last couple weeks is reporting on climate change and some Covid/Bird Flu monitoring.
We're not witches and wizards here. All this talking is not casting spells (which would probably be quite useful).

Honestly it was a harsh slap in the face for me. It took me down for a few days. I've always lived in Dem states (or at least districts) and didn't see the whole picture I guess.
The fact that all the swing states went Trumps way and he got so much of the popular vote indicates that Dems jumped ship too. That was the harsher reality for me.

I have trouble, personally, with the acceptance that this is what the country wanted. But what you said is true. My blame goes only partially to the population, though, in letting themselves be duped. In letting themselves believe that anyone who is a white male is not as, or more capable to hold positions of power.
The rest of the blame goes to those in current positions of power who have spent trillions to coerce the public into believing this messaging.

That could be an endorsement label stitched to the clothes of the politicians. A label of shame.
It needs some subtext though, saying "I support bombing hospitals and schools".
