cozy gamedev in bed feat. danalog
yes the code is crap and makes no sense right now, I'm working on refactoring the whole proof-of-concept input and movement code from direct movement control to a thrust-based system and I'm still working through the logic all in my own brainmeats

They're not quite a full replacement for sunglasses in bright sunlight, but overall they are more comfortable. I've had them for years and wouldn't go back.
The biggest downside is transitioning to clear again isn't as fast, so going from bright to dim environments leaves the world dark for a moment.

I'd say "hey that looks just like my Yamaha receiver" but Yamaha has used the same chassis and layout for most of their A/V gear for well over a decade at this point lol

16x16 I can hammer out fairly easily, what's the capy doing?
Haven't really tested my skills on much larger than that.

What kind of sprites are you looking for?

I liked it, but I agree that the previous episode was better.

However, you don't experience the passage of time in the pattern buffer. I suspect there's some optical saccade-esque backfilling the brain does for that stage of the process

yeah I mean we have an entire TNG episode about it, where a person is *consciously suspended* in the matter stream for a period of time.
It's one of my last favorite episodes but that doesn't factor into the issue lol

built-in documentation is great, it's been essential while I've been working in DIV Games Studio, a similar sort of thing from the late 90s for DOS.

yeah anything tech related typically gets more engagement here for me as well, but other topics have more of an audience there.
and if things over on bsky go topsy-turvy like eeeeveryone predicts, I'm already here.
idk. It's not that serious and people are spending way more energy being angry about a site they're not even on than they should imo. It's not constructive.

every time they dial up the fanservice on something that seems to have already maxed out, it makes me wonder just how creative they got.

The 2d Zelda games do it as well. It's pretty normal to use the cardinal sprites for diagonals, I think the trick is determining which of the two possible sprites per diagonal to pick.

anyone know of a video player that has a good focus on automatically enabling subtitles?
I want to set a preference queue: English SDH subtitles if available, and any available English subtitle if not.
Match on subtitle stream tag or name, because releases aren't consistent.
some kind of extended matching logic is desired and I'm frustrated that no player I've seen has bothered to do more than "display this specific subtitle tag" because that regularly fails to display subtitles on any given video.

wow that's surprisingly good. I might have to tweak timings a bit but that is a bogglingly accurate automatic pass, and definitely "good enough".

though I am using X11 still instead of Wayland, because games and dual-gpu laptop.
Otherwise Wayland was working well for me on integrated Intel GPU.

I've been pretty happy with KDE 5 and 6 so far.
6 on the laptop, 5 on the raspi.
But I'm also probably the intended demographic, as a looooongtime Windows user. It's got everything generally where I expect it to be, and KDE Connect for my phone is far better than Microsoft's attempt to bridge the platforms.
