They Do!
We've got awesome neighbors.
it's the chickenz that are a pain.
Not the neighbors.
lol!

2026-10-26 16:12:30 UTC

We here at ColdComfort are down to 3 chickens.
3 old & wise birds.
Been carrying flocks of chickens since I can't really recall.
When these old gals pass?
I'll cry bitterly.
As I have for all the birds long gone, some by my hand. Love them dearly.
Yup
kinda stings when we buy eggs now.
For a while, we've had plenty, for us & neighbors too.
Winter is setting in.
The chickens are old.
..
Don't know if we'll ever have another flock.
..
Time will tell.
&
fairly?
they're kinda a pain.

I kinda pay attention to these things,
I well remember nixon era rationing, carter era, etc.
every potus in my life prior to obama stipulated oil dependecy as the greatest threat to world unity.
Sure, they did fuck-all about it (carter had an interesting take, but, , ) yet, they weren't wrong:
Here we are:
2026, & nukes may drop at any moment.
Because:
Oil.
Sure, rampant, unhinged stupidity at every turn,
but at the bottom of it all?
Oil.

E-Bike Bans,
Coming on hard & fast. These e-motorcycles/e-dirtbikes have neatly provided near-perfect excuse to full-press BikeLash.
Given all the breakout legislation passing de-facto bans, and now the changes dropped by the (US) FHWA this month getting rid of pretty much anything that might improve road safety,
I can't help but imagine this is centrally orchestrated, and there is nothing 'organic'/ grass-roots about it.

It's happening really fast.

I am not reacting to it any better than on 1st reading.
Although our protagonist is my fav character from the 'Little Brother' universe, the story cuts deep.

Ah
no
CU didn't imbue corps with personhood
that was "Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Company" in 1886
&
the court's clerk "embellished' the ruling
(at the behest of the railroad)
&
a century of precident was decided on the clerk's wording.
CU -essentially- kicked the can down the road
'don't like corp personhood?
change the law, undo a century of precident, & fuck off.
Good luck!'
yes
I've been drinking
So,
tell me to 'fk off!'
is ok

ummmm
i remember
for perhaps a flash-in-the-pan period in the 70s
clinics existed
could walk in
(if ambulatory, else ER)
exhibit your symptom
get stitched up,
get an xray, bone set, cast,
boil lanced, nasty splinter removed, course of antibiotics, ears, nose, & throat looked at, etc
basic 1st aid stuff + a bit of advanced
nominal fee if you could pay, else? shrug
saves ER resources
now?
lol!
good luck!

The thing I do see:
folks -writ large- haven't been indocrinated to *hate* Kamala (Personally) in the way they were pressured to hate Hillary, going *way* back, decades. (and she still nailed the popular vote)
But they are catching up fast.

was a local stagehand & krewe chief for a regional c&w act out of baton rouge, la.us
drove a total beater porsche 912, leaking bondo, pioneer kp292 taped under the dash, homemade jensen 6x9 speakers
picked up a lot of hitchhikers;
al dimeola, mahavishu orch, jeff beck, etc, the cassette box
kept my sabbath in the door pocket

All those long decades ago,
my 1st job where I really used this tech;
the nascient structure was already built, & when we'd 'su' to root, the font changed to 'scrawl' so the the ops *knew* they were working as root.
I've never known how that was done,
Nor, have found that font! lol!
I liked it a lot.

yeah

me, being me,
wondered how well monster robot fido would faire against an opponent armed with water balloons loaded with cheap paint blended with carpet glue, sand, & thinned with an appropriate solvent

changed a lot of aspects of my walk thru this life long yrs ago. All added up to fuck-all.
I'll get over it

so will again
but now?
feels stupid and pointless

Could just (well, ok, not 'just') as easily 'sauted' (pan-fried) some cubes of tofu in place of the chicken & nuts.
&
will probably try that in the future

on the 'cheep' rack by the toilets
'ginger infused sesame oil'
rlly? ok
walk out, 'organic chkn tenderloins, $5'

git home
oil in the instantpot
in goes chopped thumb of ginger, dried pepper flakes,
