There's no such thing as a stupid question.
I believed that. I really did.
Then I onboarded my buddy to Nostr.
**Minute 1:** "So what's my username?"
It's npub1 followed by 59 random characters.
"Cool. How do people find me?"
They don't, Kevin.
**Minute 4:** "What's this nsec thing?"
Your private key. Never share it with anyone. Ever.
"Got it. I texted it to you so you'd have a backup."
**Minute 8:** "Okay, so what's the password reset process?"
There isn't one.
"That's not very professional."
**Minute 12:** "Which relay is the main one?"
There isn't one.
"So who's in charge?"
Nobody.
"Who do I report bugs to?"
Reality.
**Minute 15:** "Why did a stranger just send me 21 sats?"
That's a zap. He liked your post.
"My post just says 'test.'"
Yes.
Frankly, it's one of the better posts today.
**Minute 19:** "Why is everyone obsessed with Bitcoin?"
That's actually one of the less weird things you'll see.
**Minute 23:** "Why is every profile picture a frog, a goat, a guy holding a fish, a guy with a rifle, or a guy holding a goat while holding a fish?"
I didn't have an answer for that one.
**Minute 28:** "This guy's bio says he's building the future."
What's he building?
"No idea."
Correct.
**Minute 33:** "Why does everyone know each other?"
They don't.
They just argue with the same 40 people every day.
**Minute 37:** "Why is everyone on here so weird?"
Kevin.
You just spent 37 minutes learning how to use a censorship resistant decentralized social protocol so strangers can send you internet pennies for posting the word "test."
Ask yourself that question again.
Onboarding is difficult. You won't find Kevin here. Not because he couldn't figure it out.Because at some point I quietly decided that was the best possible outcome.

In my 20s I lived with reckless abandon. Nothing was thought through, and I chased adrenaline like it owed me money. At 42, I still get the rush. It just comes from different places now. Missing the last stair in the dark. A noise from the car I've never heard before. Phone at 3% with no charger in sight. Sneezing while lifting something heavy. My back making a brand new sound. And the scariest one of all: "Hey, do you have a minute?"
Back then it was "hold my beer." Now it's "hold my reading glasses."
I'm still living on the edge. The edge just moved.

Keeping up with the Joneses bankrupts families.
The Joneses are usually broke too, just better at hiding it, and both households end up financing a show for an audience that barely notices.

A thermostat can read the room perfectly well. What it can't do is notice that its own sensor has drifted three degrees, so it keeps the house wrong with complete confidence. Most errors in judgment work the same way. The reading is off and nothing inside us flags it.
That second sensor is its own skill, separate from intelligence. Put a group of people on a task they all handle equally well and some of them can tell almost perfectly when they got it right, while others feel just as sure about their misses as their hits. Same ability, very different awareness of it. A person can be brilliant and badly calibrated, and plenty of people with modest gifts know exactly where their knowledge runs out.
We already hold this standard for money. Don't trust, verify. Turned inward it gets harder, because the claim under audit is your own feeling of being right, and that feeling shows up instantly and fully convinced. It does train, though. Every time you check a confident call against what actually happened, the second sensor gets a little more accurate, and over the years that adds up to what people mean when they call someone wise.

Okay brain... where are we going today?
Which rabbit hole gets explored next? Which idea gets released into the relay wilderness? Which hot take earns a laugh, a debate, an eye roll, or maybe even changes someone's perspective?
Who am I going to bother today? Who am I going to enlighten?
Maybe neither. Maybe both.
Maybe that's not the point.
We just talk about stuff.
We share what we discover. We compare maps from completely different journeys. We throw thoughts into the current and watch where they drift.
Life is strange like that.
One moment you're celebrating with family, soaking in a memory you'll carry forever. The next you're staring down a list of responsibilities, obligations, and uncertainties demanding your attention.
Joy and worry.
Wonder and chaos.
Freedom and responsibility.
The human experience seems determined to serve them all at once.
Yet somehow, through all the noise, curiosity keeps calling.
There is always another question worth asking. Another book worth opening. Another conversation worth having. Another horizon waiting just beyond the one you're currently chasing.
So today, like every day, I'll follow the curiosity.
I'll wander the rabbit holes, collect a few ideas, lose a few assumptions, and hopefully return with something worth sharing.
Because the adventure isn't reaching the end of the maze.
It's discovering that the maze is infinite, and realizing that's the most enchanting part of all.
GM, stay curious Nostr. The world rewards those willing to explore beyond the obvious. ⚡️🧠

Cruelty online is mostly a matter of structure. The large platforms turn every exchange into a one shot game between strangers, and in a one shot game defection pays. Cooperation only becomes rational when the game repeats, because once you expect to meet the same people again, your reputation starts behaving like capital.
I suspect that's the quiet reason conversation feels different here. Nobody has to enforce good manners on a network where people expect to see each other tomorrow. They grow there on their own.

2026-10-26 19:17:51 UTC

One of the most important realizations I've had is that most people don't form opinions. They inherit them. Not because they're unintelligent, but because every journey into a subject begins through a doorway someone else built.
A teacher. A journalist. A politician. A podcaster. An author. An influencer. Increasingly, an LLM.
The first person who introduces you to a topic often possesses more power than the facts themselves because they establish the frame through which those facts will be interpreted.
By the time most people encounter opposing arguments, they've often already unconsciously chosen a side. At that point, information is no longer being evaluated. It's being filtered.
This is why two intelligent people can examine the same evidence and arrive at entirely different conclusions. They aren't necessarily disagreeing about the facts. They're operating from different frameworks of reality.
The most effective influencers aren't the ones who openly tell you what to think. They're the ones who make you believe you've arrived at a conclusion independently while carefully controlling the path that led you there.
The older I get, the less interested I become in people's conclusions and the more interested I become in understanding the incentives, assumptions, and narratives that produced them.
Who benefits? What was left unsaid?Which arguments were never presented? Which questions were discouraged? What would the strongest version of the opposing view look like?
Most people never ask these questions because belonging to a tribe is easier than examining one.Yet nearly every major institution depends on tribal thinking.
Politics.Media. Academia.Corporations.
Activist movements. Influencers.
Even many who claim to be exposing propaganda are often constructing a competing version of it.
AI will likely accelerate this dynamic.
Not because artificial intelligence will think for us, but because many people will willingly outsource the difficult work of thinking to systems they don't understand. Every generation has trusted its authorities.
Ours may become the first to trust an authority that can instantly synthesize millions of opinions into a single answer.
The danger isn't merely receiving a biased answer. The danger is forgetting to question the frame from which the answer emerged.
True intellectual independence isn't arriving at the "correct" conclusion, It's maintaining the ability to examine the frame before choosing a side.
In a world where everyone has a platform and every platform has incentives, perhaps the rarest virtue is no longer intelligence.
It's intellectual honesty.

After 50+ spam texts and calls over the last several weeks telling me to vote, my answer remains the same: no.
I've become absolutely indifferent to partisan politics because I no longer believe the fundamental divide is left vs. right. Both factions seem committed to preserving the same underlying system. You're welcome to disagree. My focus isn't on which political tribe gains power next. It's on family, community, faith, and the relationships that no government can manufacture and no election can ultimately sustain.
The most important institution in society isn't the state. It's the family. While politics consumes itself in an endless struggle for power, many of us are busy building lives beyond its reach. That's where my attention will remain.

“On whether Scripture permits a woman to preach”
God doesn't speak in riddles. From Genesis to the pastoral epistles the pattern never breaks. Adam was formed first and charged with headship. The priesthood was male. Christ chose twelve men as apostles. And when Paul sets the qualifications for elders, he roots them in creation itself, before the fall and before any culture could shape them.
That kind of consistency across thousands of years and dozens of authors isn't ambiguity. It's God saying the same thing again and again.
So "different interpretations" isn't a humble position. It's a way of suggesting God failed to speak clearly, and He hasn't. Women have served the church faithfully from the beginning, and Scripture honors them for it. But the pulpit belongs to the order God designed. The question in front of us was never what He meant. It's whether we'll obey. Respectfully responding back 🤝

🚨Breaking🚨
Nostr client Nostrich is run by RHXO, a New Jersey analytics firm, app store records show
Nostrich, a Nostr client for web, iOS and Android, is published by RHXO Technology LLC, a Jersey City software company that markets itself as an AI-powered business intelligence provider, according to its Google Play developer listing. Nostrich's own privacy policy names a different entity as operator, RHXO, Inc., a Delaware corporation.
The link surfaced Thursday morning when Nostr developer Alex Gleason posted that "Nostrich is run by an AI data mining company." His post quoted a biography of Mesut Darendeli crediting him with more than 100 patents in data mining and AI. Darendeli has been publicly identified as president and CEO of Rhxo Technology Group, a New York software firm. A newswire release indexed by Owler reported he had received patents on data mining technologies. All-Source could not independently verify the patent count.
RHXO's current website went up in 2025. It sells dashboards, data integration, custom AI work and a clinical trials recruitment portal, names no executives, and makes no mention of Nostr.
The same Google Play account publishes Call Tracking 365, a small-business tool that records and transcribes incoming calls and uses AI to grade each caller as a sales lead. Other apps on the account include a clinical trials app and BTC Frame.
Nostrich's store listing promises no ads and "no personal data business." Its data safety section reports no data collected. The privacy policy, updated Oct. 8, describes paid promotional campaigns that compensate users for completing advertising tasks.
To run zap campaigns, the company keeps a rolling index of roughly a week of public notes. For each author it stores their Lightning address and an Activity score calculated from public Nostr data. Users are included by default and can opt out in settings. The policy says marketplace listings are sorted with large language models and sellers receive their own Activity scores.
The same policy says private keys never reach Nostrich servers and direct messages are encrypted end to end. It states the company does not sell personal information or build behavioral advertising profiles, and that campaign targeting relies only on activity already public on Nostr.
Nostrich describes itself as free and open source and links to a GitHub organization. All-Source has not reviewed the published code.

The curse of seeing deeply is losing interest in what entertains everyone else.

2026-10-21 17:12:37 UTC

The majority of society isn’t chasing millionaire lifestyles. They're chasing peace of mind. They want "the washer quit, and we replaced it" money. They want "the dentist bill came, and we paid it" money. They want "the deductible hit, but the mortgage still cleared" money.
For most families, feeling rich would mean having enough margin that an emergency doesn't become a crisis. That's the kind of freedom people are really chasing.

2026-10-21 14:22:51 UTC

GM.
If you're reading this, you woke up breathing. That means you've been given another day, one you didn't earn and one you can never get back. You were made for such a time as this. This moment. This generation. These circumstances. And the particular people who happen to be standing near you right now. The gifts and talents you carry are yours, but they were never meant to stop with you. They were given to be shared, to serve the people on your left and right, the ones you work beside, live with, and pass by every day without much thought.
Most of what a life amounts to is settled in those ordinary places. In whether the people around you were loved a little better, encouraged a little more, and left a little stronger because you were there. So use the day well. Someone near you is going to need exactly what you have.

The generation that wins will be the one that learns to build reputation in public and keep wealth in private. Visibility compounds trust, and trust is what brings the audience, the deals, the people worth knowing.
But every detail you publish is also a map, and the people who read maps aren't all friendly. So the real skill is judgment about what to show.

GM.
Ritual greetings carry almost no information, and that is precisely their function. They exist to confirm the relationship is still intact before anyone risks saying something that matters. Societies that drop them don't become more efficient. They become more suspicious, because every exchange has to establish trust from scratch.
So consider this the daily maintenance. Happy Friday.

Israel printed a steak. Soy protein, methylcellulose and a premix blend, layered by a machine to fake the marbling a real cut gets on its own. It's on shelves in the Northeast now, and the box calls it “premium.”
A 250 gram "marbled steak" with 26 grams of protein. A real ribeye that size carries more than double, and it got there eating grass in the sun. Methylcellulose, for the record, is the same binder in fiber laxatives and wallpaper paste.
A cow belongs to whoever raised it. A cartridge of premix has a patent and a licensing fee, and the rancher gets written out of the story.
We already learned you can't print money and call it value. Dinner works the same way. Find a rancher and keep paying for the real thing while it's still easy to get. *Emphasis in the picture is mine*. You can’t make this sh*t up.

Modern propaganda has mostly given up on convincing anyone. It works better to flood the room with so many claims, counterclaims and manufactured emergencies that you eventually stop trying to sort them, because sorting has become exhausting and nobody can keep it up forever. A tired mind gives up on asking what's true and settles for whatever feels familiar or belongs to its own side.
That exhaustion is the real win for whoever is running the game, because a person too worn out to reason will hand over the job of deciding to someone else. Protecting your attention is how you keep the ability to think for yourself.

The people who profit from your anger have figured out that a feeling of action is cheaper to sell than the real thing.

GM. Back from a long, offline weekend on the lake in Coeur d'Alene with my family getting all of my attention. Felt good man. Real good.
But I am back and it’s good to see you all this morning. Missed you guys. Here’s a few pics from the trip.

Dear Satoshi,
It's been a while.
You missed a few things.
First, your internet money worked.
This has created enormous problems.
The dollar still exists, but now half my friends measure their net worth in sats and their self worth in follower count.
Speaking of followers, we built a decentralized social network called Nostr.
It was designed to eliminate gatekeepers.
Within six months we had influencers.
Within twelve months we had celebrities.
Within eighteen months we had people posting screenshots of engagement metrics while explaining why engagement metrics don't matter.
Progress.
A guy spent 10,000 BTC on two pizzas.
Every year we celebrate this event to remind ourselves that we're all financial geniuses.
The celebration consists primarily of calculating how much the pizzas would be worth now and suffering.
You'd love it.
The banks eventually adopted Bitcoin.
Not because they were convinced.
Because there was a fee involved.
The same people who said you were dangerous now offer Bitcoin exposure in a retirement account.
The same people who said "never trust banks" own it through those accounts.
Everyone claims victory.
A software company borrowed billions of dollars to buy Bitcoin.
Then more companies borrowed billions of dollars to buy Bitcoin.
Then investors bought the stocks because they couldn't get enough Bitcoin.
Then those companies borrowed more money and bought more Bitcoin.
A generation of MBAs now believes debt is a mining rig.
We call this institutional adoption.
You probably called it something else.
The block size war ended.
For about six minutes.
Then we discovered new reasons to fight.
We fought over ordinals.
We fought over inscriptions.
We fought over spam.
We fought over filters.
We fought over software clients.
We fought over whether fighting was good for Bitcoin.
At this point the fighting is one of Bitcoin's longest-running consensus mechanisms.
Nobody has changed their mind since 2017.
The arguments continue anyway.
Your whitepaper was nine pages.
Bitcoin podcasts now require seasons.
The Monero people still tell us Bitcoin is surveillance.
We still tell them nobody can audit their supply.
Both sides believe mathematics is settling the argument.
Both sides post about it every day.
Neither side appears confident.
Quantum computers are supposedly coming.
Depending on who you ask, they'll arrive next Thursday or sometime after the heat death of the universe.
The proposed solution is to move old coins.
Which brings us to you.
A surprising number of people would like to secure your coins by confiscating them.
For safety.
Bitcoin governance has matured considerably.
My node validates every transaction on Earth.
It sits in a closet making tiny blinking lights.
My family believes it's a router.
I've decided that's close enough.
I memorized twelve words to become my own bank.
I immediately stamped them into titanium, engraved backups into steel, created encrypted copies, distributed geographic redundancies, and developed a disaster recovery plan.
Being my own bank has become a part time job.
Nobody knows where their seed phrase is.
Everyone insists they know exactly where it is.
These are not contradictory statements.
On Nostr, strangers send each other tiny amounts of Bitcoin called zaps.
This is revolutionary because we've finally monetized agreeing with each other online.
People now earn money for posting pictures of coffee and saying "stay humble."
Some make a living doing this.
Capitalism always finds a way.
Also, there are now AI versions of you.
Several, actually.
They all sound confident.
Which means they're probably realistic.
As for me, I don't care about price.
I checked it this morning.
Then after breakfast.
Then after saying I don't care about price.
Then one more time to make sure I still didn't care.
Bitcoiners have become exactly what they feared: A global network of paranoid optimists with hardware wallets, strong opinions, and twenty browser tabs open.
And somehow...
you were right.
It's still running.
It's still 21 million.
Nobody has managed to print more.
Trust us, many have asked.
Thank you for disappearing.
Had you stayed, we'd have blamed you for everything.
**P.S.** If you're still around, send 21 sats from one of your wallets.
You would instantly settle thousands of arguments and create millions more.
**P.P.S.** Please don't send 21 sats from one of your wallets.
We finally got the arguments organized.
Truly Yours, Contra

Don't pick sides until you know the full story. Some people are really skilled at making others look bad.

Real wealth has a smell. Leather. Old wood. Fresh flowers. Quality food being cooked. Nothing synthetic. Nothing cheap. Nothing that trades longevity for convenience.
The sensory environment of a wealthy home is just a higher standard applied consistently across every detail that most people never think to elevate.

GM. The leaf blower is the honest emblem of an age that measures effort by how visible it is more than by what it resolves.
It displaces a problem without solving it, consumes energy in the process, and announces itself loudly enough that no one doubts work is being done. People and institutions alike learn to prefer this kind of labor, because motion is easy to observe and resolution is easy to overlook. So finishing something has become the rarer skill, precisely because nobody hears you doing it.

I can't fix the money or the internet. I can make sure my house doesn't depend on anybody's permission to use them, though.
Then I can show the next guy how.

We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful.
We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing forever.

Most of what we post is gone from our own memory within a week, so let's put something here that's meant to be read again.
Write one sentence to yourself five years from now and leave it on the record. Look at your life and circumstances as they stand today, and ask what you would want to read in 2031, looking back on this exact stretch.
A private journal lets you quietly revise the story later. A note signed with your key doesn't give you that option. It sits here with a timestamp, in front of witnesses, saying what you believed and what you were aiming at before you knew how any of it turned out.
One sentence is enough. I'll go first…
"You already knew what was true in 2026, so the only question worth asking is whether you lived like it."
Your turn. I'll be back in five years to read every one. Repost, zap and pass it on.

I have one I just did yesterday. I just need to reactivate my subscription to get publishing again. It’s $15 bucks a month. It isn’t that much but with everything else, it adds up if I’m not investing certain time into recording.

The internet is likely being taken over by the government. Legacy news media, the old propaganda arm, is dying and no longer holds a deep footprint in people's lives. It used to be the newspaper. Now the same machine has to work through the social media apparatus, and X, TikTok, Instagram and the rest have been taken over as a means to push algorithmic plagues of lies and deceit.
By the way, the Pneumonic Plague is back? In Russia, with one dead and about 200 being quarantined. I wonder why this little psyop is happening. Hmm. Any elections coming up?
Nostr might be the last little place that cannot be captured. A refuge. A safe haven. A place where TRUTH can thrive. In my honest opinion, we have no idea of the gem and the beauty that Nostr holds in our lifetime.
Just thinking. Oh ya, GM Nostr!

Jack Dorsey’s BitChat app that lets you send Bitcoin with zero internet was banned in India recently.
An app this powerful and governments are already trying to kill it.
A money this powerful and they keep trying to stop it.
There’s only ONE billionaire actually standing up for freedom.
Absolute legend.
I’d like to see Jack back here on Nostr more often.

When it's no longer legal to think freely, lol, the masses will come running. Nostr will be flooded, and I don't think we're too far away from this being a reality. People rarely go looking for a free place to speak until the one they had gets taken from them.
When this occurs, just remember those who have been here working on and through Nostr, the ones using it and participating in it every day. We are early, and at some point we will be the OGs. That will count for something, because whatever culture we've built by then is the one the new people walk into.
Much help will be needed in preventing attacks and spam on relays. Web of trust was right and still is.
In the meantime, do what you want here. Just remember that people matter more than the protocol. A protocol only moves messages around, and the reason any of us keep opening this thing is who's on the other end. I have many people here I literally call friends. Love this place.
GM Nostr.
