what if it really was a camera above a bit of desk? Do a bit of aruco code work to make the buttons clickable and so on.

Ta - that's my point, really.
If you're talking to someone who only has two options in your head, it would help a lot to have nice sticky single words for some other options.

I have long thought that one of the reasons the 'capitalist vs socialist' debate is so generally incoherent is that we don't have handy -ist words for these other options, eg a market economy without capital accumulation, or a command economy vs a communal one.
Maybe economists have these words already tucked away under their hats somewhere?

Do you have a Tildagon?
Are you afraid of your hexpansions falling out?
Do you enjoy tiny, fiddly 3d prints?
Then this might be for you.

People who are going to #emf2026 and enjoy making #hexpansion and/or synths - I seem to be coordinating a collective effort to make a #eurorack compatible modular synth in #hexpansion form.
If that sounds like the kind of thing you might enjoy being part of, please let me know.

In the course of tidying, I've just come across a Thinkpad 310 from the late 90. Seems mint, boots Windows 95 happily, has a built-in floppy drive and a generous selection of ports and even a (probably dead) spare battery. Anyone in the UK love old computers ? I hate the idea of binning it. @npub1lkq…d0l7 maybe?

Just look at this fabulous vehicle - some kind of jacked up off-road kei truck.

When I displayed this violation of the laws of physics at Maker Faires, I would get the occasional visitor who was quite angry with me, and who would explain to me in a cranky way why it was impossible.

no need to apologize! But (on thinking about it) I really want to work with standard punched tape, not anything else.
Otherwise something printed and then read optically would be fine.

well, I was planning to put MIDI onto it, so 8 bit would work for me, but 64 bit would be fabulous.
I'm wondering if the aluminum paper could be read electronically with brushes.

I have a hankering for a paper tape punch. I can't find any existing kits or published projects, which surprises me.
Does anyone know of any?
