When I search on Mastodon, am I searching just my server, or the whole connected network?
Hashtag & keyword searches produce very few results for me.
Am I doing something wrong?
Need to change servers?
These topics are not being posted on much?
Search just doesn't work that well?
What say you?

It's for training the "AI" (what we used to just call the algorithm that automates some function.)
The forces that can hire the most response bots to boost signal on those pre- whatevers will then have pole position when the next day's attention auctions begin.
Bots impressing bots.
Youtube has to be given notice, like other recent media outlets gone wild.

That reductive thinking doesn't work well in complex adaptive systems. One change rarely confirms or disproves anything. There's also no god-mode where someone can enter instantaneous global changes via keyboard.
I'm not saying that individuals should not change, and especially prepare for the very different lifestyle that awaits them. They're largely the same actions anyway.
I'm saying that the myriad ways the millions of components of the system will continue to function counter to these stated climate goals, and even come up with new, worse ways (like LLaiM in every home).
So there is no 'reversion back to a safe place' that's possible without adopting an insane, maximally unethical practice of population reduction. The world had only 1.8 billion pop in 1911.
Evolution does not require an intelligent designer. This is the basis for what I said about the systems not changing due to individual agency. That doesn't mean we don't get to choose our mates, and largely influence our own happiness or local well-being.
If we don't or can't change the largest hubs (govs & corps) behavior, our own actions won't have much network-wide effect because they won't propagate far w/o the hubs.

It might be better to think of the systems themselves doing the changing, rather than agent-based like programming.
Of course there are people involved, but we don't have direct control over the complex world we live in, in spite of the persistent illusion that we do.
That bad shit you refer to happens 'to someone else, somewhere else' as far as most are concerned. Profit is a positive feedback loop, and the damaging externalities will continue for as long as it's profitable, and not personally threatening to the multi-mansion-bunker dwellers.

I don't see the problem on the source side, since it's just a more automated version of what we already had. #Science is not a closed endeavor.
Now, since they are selling this for commercial use, we have a problem of another kind. How will this info be used? Who will have (free) access to it?
The simple fact of the matter is, that we need something like this, and it needs to be done collectively such as we see in the Olympics, Space stations, or Global Monetary infrastructure. Or even-- wait for it.. the Interfriggenet.
The costs & benefits need to be adequately distributed to all of humanity, through a downward cascading set of densely connected nodes. (Review, critique, and citation by reputable sources.)
We do not need, planet survival notwithstanding, to have a circle-jerk of multinational corporate pirates competing to serve up supercomputer power to every conceivable trivial search made by the masses , made possible by the textbook 'freemium' scam that treats energy as freemium too.

Thanks, I naively thought it had something to do with angular momentum.
Just read part 2 of the blog post. I'm more interested in the h->0 part so will be looking forward to the what's next.
BTW, if the Dirac timeline had not won out, your presentation might be more confusing. Schrödinger presented K as the variable for h/2pi in 1926. Though if you're successful, K & k might make a nicer couple.

What's the reason for using bar-h instead of the original?

It's unfortunately one of those situations where if you typed out the joke for the mouse-over, it would ruin the punchline for everyone else.
Edit: Is there a 'spoiler window' feature here where you could get an explained image behind a drop down button?

This is funny because of -
..wait for it..
- what the OP said.
This self-centeredness presents as Ptolemaic, #anthropormorphic, #anthropocentric, etc. in our economies, societies, and
#science theories.
Imagine describing a theory as an adult, for other adults (as opposed to nursery rhymes) that went with "depending on whether we observe or not" rather than "depending on whether the paths have the same #symmetry or not".
This is equivalent to your friend carefully aligning their hands to create a shadow-dragon on the wall and inviting you into the room to see what they've created. You step in front of their hands, looking at the wall, and saying "I only see a big blob shadow."
Then a 3rd person (a #quantum mechanic) describes what took place as "the act of observation changed the outcome of the 2-hand superposition."

Book Review: Escape from Shadow Physics: the Quest to End the Dark Ages of Quantum Theory
Sometimes you have to fight fire w/fire; decades of #misinformation tends to generate passionate responses like this. But does it go far enough? Not yet.
Not until the full range of human behavior is played out, with both sides going to the very limits. The fence-sitters, click-bait journalists, pundits, etc. will have to feel that something they care about is threatened, and that no one will step in to support their position anymore. Watching extremists pummel each other seems to be required drama for the masses of sheeple to make serious change to their world-views.
OTOH, we can also be very fickle, and while it moves slowly at first, the actual flippenings happen quickly, seemingly overnight.
It does feel like we're getting really close to that breaking point..
