Do u run a node or do u use somebody else's? Spam makes it more expensive to run a node so yes it does limit people around the world to use Bitcoin as money today in a sovereign way.

5 mining pools overrid the rules set by 20 thousand nodes. How is it not centralized and captured again?

I've been listening to the technical arguments and I've heard nothing that make me think BIP110 is worse than the status quo. This debate is also more about social factors rather than techincal. Personal attacks are one thing, but there is nothing wrong with comparing where someone lands on the issue with their incentives

The guy makes a living off Bitcoin and has a family to feed. His income comes from maintaining is connections in the industry. I would love for him to come out in support of bip110 and take a stand but even I would admit, when my family is on the line, that's a hard ask. This fight will be won by people like you and me; anons and pleb. We will fight and win and people like Ben and others will follow where the wind blows and that's ok because they will capitulate with the group.

I thought we were trying to get more people to come to nostr. You're right, a paywall could really help...

You’re hiding behind definitions. In the real world, a contested checkpoint forces a chain choice and locks in history, which is a split in everything but name. Calling it soft doesn’t change that.

Paul Lamb has a new video out on YouTube on how to run Garbageman. A node implementation that preferentially peers with libre relay nodes but refuses to relay spam adding friction and rate-limiting to protect the chain. Check it out if you're ideologically inclined
