May Mulder

I love to make things. I 've done a lot so far with creative stuff, but recently it's drawing that interests me most.

She’ll be turning sixty in a week’s time – my good friend, whom I’ve known since our days at university. I’ve drawn her a picture based on a photo from back then as a present. We were so young back then.

I want to focus more on drawing people. So I started with a photo in a magazine on books. "Read books", she said. 😉

Beach find.
At first, when I saw this at the water’s edge, I thought it was a hardened dog poo. But it was hollow inside and twisted like a shell. Yet if this is a shell, it doesn’t have a smooth surface; instead, it’s strangely crumbly and porous.
Is there a shell expert in the Fediverse who knows what this is?
In the last photo, there’s also a lovely fossilised shell that I found.

I thought the dune with marram grass ( helmgras) would be tricky, but I found that big ship harder to draw. It’s sailing across the Westerschelde towards Antwerp.

I really want to improve my watercolour technique. The green of the bushes, in particular, is still a bit of a struggle. Perhaps I don’t have the right colours on my palette.
