Another beautiful full moon through the clouds again this morning. I pulled over to take the shot through the windshield and I’m glad I did. Five minutes later the clouds were gone…

I agree completely. I've of course experimented with the idea myself - asking an LLM for a blog post on a particular topic - and the results were okay, but it wasn't my "voice". I even went back and said "read these blog posts I wrote previous to get a flavor of my style" and it was better but still lacking. And repeating this long term you end up eating your own tail.
At best I think it can come up with good outlines that I may or may not end up using, but decent blogs? Not really.

Since both myself and hellNbak were laid off recently, it seems we both have decided to make sure various coding side projects from the past year or so have been brought forward - especially hellNbak. Anyway, enjoy the fruits of NMRC labor.

Haha I wish I could tie this to a single state! It started in Oklahoma where I grew up, and simply expanded from there. Plenty of odd stories here and there in the blog. The book writing has been fun, especially for family and close friends who have been reminding me of weird details I'd forgotten.

Me: "I'm in stealth mode."
Friend: "Ah you've started work at some startup?"
Me: "No, I'm in stealth mode. I've been in stealth mode for decades."
Friend: "Why?"
Me: "Long story..."
I am writing a memoir, been working on it for over a year. I'm calling it Strange Luck, this old blog post from 2018 is one very quick and very partial summation.

As a freshly unemployed person, I apparently have more time for the blog and a nice subject to talk about.

Here's a fun post for pro- and anti-AI infosec people alike - guess who is going to have to "fix" AI? If you're thinking "not me" well, think again.

Hard to believe fluctuations in the weather (I believe this is the result of #climatechange) as here in Texas it is spring-like sunny weather. I’m making sun tea today, five years ago at this time I was living through the worse winter storm in Texas history with rolling blackouts, water shortages, and many deaths.

Give.
Some of us are fortunate and can spare a bit of money, especially for a worthy cause, and the #eff is definitely a worthy cause. Especially important now more than ever.
So give.

This job just posted by my employer, and while GitLab is a remote only employer, this is strictly for a US-based employee. If I know you (and don't think you're a jerk 😉 ) let me know when you apply and I'll put in a good word for you.

Ever heard of the children’s book “A is for Alien”? It is the best/worse kid’s book ever. Very dark. My granddaughter Evie waddled over and handed it to me, saying “A…A…A…”. It’s her fave book. “F is for Facehugger. You don’t want it to give you a hug!”
Best part of this is one of Evie’s middle names is Ripley (not a joke). Her first name is after a relative but shortened to Evie because of the strong female character from “V for Vendetta”. Her birthday is Halloween, almost as cool as if she’d been born on November 5th.

SunOS was pseudo closed source, in that of an established customer could purchase a copy. Acquiring a copy was nice, one could trade for let's say a zero day or something. CALEA was one of the "benefits" of this type of trading.

A friend of mine asked "How do you deal with this?" to which I replied that I dealt with it almost 2 years ago when I deleted my account.
Why people remain on Twitter, I do not know.

For those that run a #Mastodon instance on #Ubuntu server, have you had any issues upgrading from 22.04.4 LTS to 24.04.1? Any tips appreciated.

Since I have #solar panels, batteries, and no electric bill, I get asked a lot of questions. I now have a Solar FAQ part two to cover new questions since the last Solar FAQ from a couple of years ago.
Part two: https://www.markloveless.net/blog/2024/7/30/solar-faq-part-two
The older part one: https://www.markloveless.net/blog/2022/6/21/solar-faq
