17 years ago today, we promised we’d face the world side by side with each other … still doing that … I’m so, so grateful. @nprofile…7zlx

Guess what came in the mail a couple of days ago? If you guessed 80s kids 2 vinyl records, then you win the prize*! 🏆
*The prize is just a virtual hi-five from me and @nprofile…7zlx ; but YAY! 80s kids 2 VINYL IS HERE! 🎉
We tore open the box as soon as we got it home from the post office, and immediately put it on the turntable. It sounds GREAT. And it looks SO COOL.

From Timothy Snyder’s (beautiful) piece today, an idea from Ukrainian poet Lesya Ukraïnka.
I read this and think: we’re going to win because we’re going to keep caring for each other.

Hi friends! For #BandcampFriday, @nprofile…5a4x and I are offering (almost) free tee shirts for everyone. (Are we doing Bandcamp Friday right?? 🤷🏻‍♀️)
We've lowered the price to $1 on all of the tees in our tour leftovers stock. (We wanted to make it $0! But you can’t do that in the BC merch store.) They will be available at that price for all of Bandcamp Friday.
It's one way that we can say thank you for all the support you've given us this year. We appreciate you a lot 😘😘😘

On this day 19 years ago in St. Cloud MN, a floppy-haired guy on tour with Matt Nathanson walked in to a college venue carrying a couple of guitars in his hands across the front of the stage where my band was doing soundcheck.
Later, I’d go introduce myself to him at the sound board. We’d stay up until 3am talking, and then get to know each other via texts and phone calls as our tours parted ways. Two weeks or so later, when we were both home from tour, we’d have our first official date.

❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩷🤎🖤 Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone who knows that LOVE is for EVERYBODY, inclusive of all expressions of humanity, and that LOVE doesn’t ever try to control, marginalize, target, or dehumanize any person because of who they are, how they love, what they look like, or what their immigration status is.

*And to anyone who doesn’t understand and act and vote with a love like that: a very unhappy day to you, be better.

Not sure why, exactly, but I had the idea to go back and listen to my first solo full-length studio album earlier today. It's the first full-length project that I made with @nprofile…zgty, and we put it out in 2013.
The two prevailing thoughts I had were:
1) wow, I was a timid singer back then. I suppose I've really gotten to know / be comfortable with myself since then. And
2) I really like these songs still!
If you're curious to listen: https://shannoncurtis.bandcamp.com/album/cinemascope-2013
Happy new year, friends!

I'm inviting in only a select few sources of news or news analysis these days — because it remains a value of mine to be aware of what's happening, so that I can know if/when/how I can respond when I need to — and they are all sources that are thoughtful, unsensational, and rooted in humanitarian values.
One such source is the semi-daily newsletter by historian Timothy Snyder, and I want to shout this from the rooftops:
Today's newsletter is REQUIRED READING:

I don't know about you, but I have trimmed down my news intake A LOT in the last month and a half.
I realized that getting news alerts on my phone made my cortisol shoot up, and listening to the newsy podcasts I used to listen to regularly was actively hampering my mental heath.
So I've radically pared down what I allow into my consciousness as an act of self care. Ya feel me?

For context, @npub1an0…nt0n and I made this in 2017 as a way of processing the outcome of the 2016 election. We listened to it last week for the first time in years because it seemed it would feel newly relevant. We were both taken aback by how healing it was to listen to it again now.
