Not something to set aside time for right now, but, there are some good books about the history of pottery in different locations (e.g. China vs. Pueblo area of North America are completely different) which talk about how colors were discovered as possible to produce, including modern knowledge about what elements, minerals, or control of oxygen were used to produce various historical pot appearances. Also, pigments used in glass working have a lot of overlap with glaze.

if you like computer games, there are some fun pottery games you can get on Steam, with your choice between controlling with a mouse and controlling in VR if one is easier on your hands and arms than the other. I have made a lot of virtual pottery in Master of Pottery, there should be posts with screenshots visible in my history here. That one's mouse-only, but Dojagi: The Korean Pottery has lots of VR options.
