Been hearing some sketchy things about the ethics going on at #protonmail and after I just finished my gmail transition. For those in a #foss #opensource world, what are you using for email and cloud?

Last year I divested from #spotify to consume music more intentionally and pay directly to artists or via #bandcamp and now I'm taking it a ridiculous step further in my nostalgia for physical media. I merged all the tracks of each album as a single file. No more track skipping. Just play.

Hey #linux and #foss users and advocates who have acquiesced to daily driving an #iphone what are the apps you have installed on your phone? I can't stand data collecting podcast apps and trying to remove as much brainrot risk from my experience as I possibly can.

Hey #plasmamobile users, what role is it playing in your life? Is it a on a secondary device? Are you daily driving it? Is it something you simply want to support in the hope it will one day be the only thing in your pocket? What distro are you using?

Is anyone using a #raspberrypi as a laptop replacement? I backed the Pilet project by @nprofile…z5dk recently and I'm curious about the idea of a modular and affordable solution for mobile computing.

As part of my #mactolinux transition I came across a super handy alternative to #airdrop called #localsend it's cross platform and nearly as seamless as that oh so convenient feature in the #apple ecosystem. Highly recommend.

#dei by any other name is still an opportunity combine different ideas, perspectives, and propel innovation. I just completed #filming for an #entrepreneurship course for #indigenous led businesses. Maybe the label gets dropped but the work continues. #film #video PS glad to share this work on a platform where it won’t get censored. #fediverse #filmmaking #photo #photography

The most exciting part of the #maclinuxbuild aside from from the #linux #os install has to be #gpu day! Opted for an #amd rx 6800 xt. These got a lot of flack at release because price to performance was not there. They were also released during a time of high gpu prices but they’ve come down quite a bit. It’s also the best option that my research turned up which does not require the #pixlas #mod. Good enough for #gaming, light #editing and a #Plex #server. #foss #floss #opensource #slowtech

The thing I am most curious to explore in my #maclinuxbuild is how well @nprofile…ar5y will handle #xavc 4K 10-bit footage. I’m eyeing @nprofile…gxgk for this unconventional set up. Recently I produced a #film about food sovereignty for #indigenous communities. We just wrapped our premiere tour and pleased to share the film is distributed by American Public Television for #broadcast and #streaming on #pbs Passport. We currently organizing a film tour that will also be a change campaign for #food #accessibility #education and #local #growing read more here :) https://www.tsenato.com/articles/indigenize-the-plate-premiere-tour-wrap-up #foodjustice #photo #photography #filmmaking

@nprofile…vzdp Oh yes! Definitely plan to test the limits of Proton and Steam :)

Time for a memory upgrade on the #maclinuxbuild project. Per suggestion from @nprofile…vzdp I’m going to adding in 64GB of #ram Next up I’ll be eyeing a GPU for this. And which GPU really depends on what I’ll ultimately be using this for. More to come soon. #foss #floss #slowtech #opensource #oldtech #oldtechrescue #linux #kde #gnome #photo #photography

Okay the SSD has arrived for the #maclinuxbuild I’m using a 480GB SSD as the startup disk which will be housed where the optical drive used to be. I’ll eventually have additional storage in the other vacant optical drive bay as well as the four lower bays. Per suggestion by @nprofile…vzdp I’ve just ordered a 64GB #ram kit. #linux #kde #gnome #opensource #slowtech #foss #floss #photo #photography #ewasterecycling #upcycling #2025Goals

Okay SSD was meant to be next but this came first in the mail😄Next step in the #slowtech Mac Pro running #linux build is a new ethernet card. This will be my non-work computer, tinkering/learning linux machine, as well as a media server. My NAS has reached end of life in support so I thought this would be chance to roll both uses into one device. #photo #photography #foss #floss #opensource #diy #thursday #maclinuxbuild

Going into 2025 on a #slowtech kick. Picked up a #macpro 5,1 from craiglist, ordered a 12 core #cpu tray w/ 32GB of #ram. Will share more upgrades as they come in. When it’s all installed, I’m planning on running some flavor of #linux on it as a personal #desktop. #photo #photography #tech #apple #foss #floss #opensource Next piece is a 2.5” SSD as the startup disk. Should I get more RAM? @nprofile…vzdp

I had the opportunity to participate in a film challenge - creating one short film per week for six weeks! I decided to create a continuity between all six stories and managed to develop a concept for a feature film. #film #films #filmmaking #storytelling #stories #photo #photography #photos
