they can't. the kernel devs recently got rid of the requirement for contributors to specify if their contributions are slop. the best they can do is rewrite security fixes, which i don't think they do, but idk

won't that make it non-deterministic and de-sync online stuff?

it likely differs per country. you're not redistributing proprietary code, so copyright probably isn't an issue here. you probably broke an end user license agreement, though i've heard those aren't legally binding in many cases, something about them being difficult to understand for the average person. trying to fact check this using a search engine mostly just shows links to reddit, so idk how accurate this information is. this bug being found helps unity a little, so i don't think they care

the alt text doesn't match the text in the image. the 4th entry in the sources list is listed as "1" again in the image, but as "4" in the alt text

it's a good license, but there are some companies that kind of abuse it.
Microsoft for instance.
They release some of their software under the MIT license, but add proprietary code to their releases. They don't state this very clearly.
This is essentially just a form of "open washing".
I'm not saying they have to use the GPL (although that would be nice).
But it'd be great if there was an open license with more strict rules regarding the naming of proprietary software in which the open code is included.
It's too easy to trick people into thinking something is free software

This is true, but if it were to change now. Information in books and alike would suddenly be incorrect

Because lots of things wouldn't make sense any more.
Noon wouldn't be at 12 any more in places that didn't already use UTC.
It would become difficult for people to explain at what time a day something happened if they live in a place that formerly used a different time zone. For some people 8 AM would be midnight, for others it would be noon, things like that.

speaking from experience, some people type :q when trying to quit a program, even when that does nothing. by actually adding support for it to the program, the devs help these people.
i also sometimes try to use the j key to scroll down in a web browser

i see lots if companies include the images they use in their emails as attachments. looks like github itself uses an svg element on their website

are you familiar with fuzzy finding?
also, to exclude tags, i think the most intuitive method would be to make a 2nd input field appear below the first one that excludes matches from the first search.
most search engines use exclamation points to exclude things, but this standard seems to be disappearing
