On the subject of The Discourse, it does seem like a very minor change to wording around the same principles as before. I don't think that any of the already merged PRs would've been rejected under these changes either, which makes the whole thing moot.
Would love to see that introspection though.

Whether you're saying no to AI or only saying AI cannot be the sole author, enforcing either policy requires the same amount of effort and scrutiny. If you're taking your own policy seriously, there is no reduction of labor involved when you open the door "just a little".
So no point in practicing leniency. Practice having principles.

In the last couple of days I've seen this argument that you have to partially allow LLM-assisted contributions because that keeps people honest. That otherwise they'd do it anyway, just lie about it.
That's a fallacy. True, these things can sometimes be hidden. The level of their involvement can be mischaracterized.
That is precisely why the point of having a strict anti-AI policy is not about enforcement. It's about integrity. It's about signaling. It's about platforming and visibility.

@nprofile…006p Exactly my face. Them strings being memory-expensive! I guess...

So I decided to create a reproduction project for the bizarre memory usage issue with Trees in Godot, and yep, it's taking over RAM very easily, scales with the number of columns and the size of each column's text.
Not a leak, nothing to do with my code, and still an issue in 4.7 stable.

On this day, I'm just glad we all have each other. To praise each other, to be happy for each other, to be sad together, to radiate hate with the power of a star towards those who wrong us and our beloved craft together.

I feel like Path of Exile 2 releasing "biggest ever" named updates while still remaining in early access perverts the idea of EA to the degree I cannot really comprehend.
It's like you make a marketing push for people to buy, but you don't want to promise any liability or reliability. It's awful :/

@nprofile…udln Anyhow, my original point was that an image so unstable would be considered a buggy mess 20 years ago. The reasons at the time would be different, as would be the tech. But we'd still criticize games in this kind of state.
And yes, Fallout 4 was a buggy mess at launch with numerous visual bugs.
I don't have top-of-the-line HW. I am bound to play games at unplayable framerates or with constant ghosting from upscaling. Budget or not, games today scale down terribly. And we accept it.

@nprofile…udln So it's 20 years later and shadows are still only visible without artifacts 20 meters in front of the car...
Except now it's because of RTGL bugs (as seen here) or upscaling (as seen in many other games).
