For example, I made a thread about the US being an empire comprised of many parallel societies—internal colonies is another term—so there is no cultural, linguistic, or religious standard, and that generalizations about American cultural/linguistic/religious behavior, you're ignoring those colonies and you should specify which Americans exhibit these cultural "norms". My thread was exclusively about culture, language, religion...
and yet someone decided to remind me that Black Americans can be colonizers too.

Something that I've noticed, both in the fediverse and other places, is that when marginalized people within the US complain about the US, non-USians arrive to remind us that we're still American, and therefore the ways we're marginalized don't matter and they don't care... in a way they do not talk to or respond to privileged Americans.
They use Black and Indigenous people in the US as acceptable targets for their hatred of the US instead of the people driving policy and holding the world hostage.

Alien (1979 film) is so relatable, because you'll be trying to escape parasites in a capitalist hellscape, and right in the middle of it, you're reminded that your cat is somewhere it's NOT supposed to be 😭

social media apps: Follow these accounts if you want to see what they post 😃
social media apps: We've updated the algorithm so now you'll never see the people you follow unless they go viral 😃
social media apps: Also you can only go viral if you're an attractive, rich white person, or pushing far-right content 😃 Hope you enjoy racist, antisemitic, transphobic, and anti-science conspiracy theories!

there's something really poetic about going to a prestigious university that neglected my humanities department to prioritize computer science students and making sure they landed placements at Microsoft and Meta, where they get salaries to pay off their student debt and I certainly don't
and now these same corporations and these same fucking graduates are stealing my work and the work of others like me to train some useless fucking water guzzling, planet cooking, community poisoning "AI" machine
and my university is still asking me for fucking money

Donald Trump is a known abuser of women who was rewarded with the US presidency twice.
Cis men don't lie about being trans to get access to women to abuse because they don't need to. They've never needed to. In a misogynistic society where cis men hold power, they will be protected just as they are without your strawman.
Did Johnny Depp pretend to be a trans woman? Diddy? Epstein? Dominique Pelicot? What about the long list of misogynistic serial killers - did they start taking estrogen to find their victims? Do you think the cops who abuse their wives at home and trafficking victims on the clock worry about access to women to abuse?

"there are (cis) men who would lie about being a trans woman to gain access to women so they can hurt them (which is why trans women shouldn't be allowed in woman-only spaces)"
i think anyone who says this should be duct taped to a chair and pelted in the face with eggs until they rejoin fucking reality

Old Major: Humans are the enemy because they exploit us
Animals: Yeah!
Old Major: Animals are your comrades!
Animals: Yeah!
Old Major: Do NOT adopt the vices of the humans. Don't become the thing we're fighting against. Don't exploit or tyrannise your animal comrades. Don't kill your fellow comrades. And for the love of god, do not do the capitalism!!!!!!!
Napoleon: Taking that as a challenge

Does anyone have recommendations for tools to mass delete tweets on the birdsite? Preferably that allows exceptions?
I want to purge my account (by preserve my username by not deleting), and have like 3-4 tweets that ideally I'd like to keep up. All the rest can go.
I've tried 3 different apps/programs without success. I'm also not a developer and slightly feral, so if you send me a Github link or some obscure API that requires a computer science degree and 10 years of experience to wield, I will bite you.

Hey fediverse, anybody work in web design/dev and want a new client? I'm an author looking for a full website redesign (preferably staying with a Wordpress CMS, 4 page templates, clean, accessible, maybe Gothic flair), and not sure where to get started.
The last agency recommended to me by an author left me with a site using 2MB images for thumbnails on every page, and even after I replaced them and a friend stepped in to optimize, it's still slow.
Portfolios, website links, etc. welcome. OK to share.

Attention cat people! 🚨
Be careful with automatic litter robots! There's a model currently being sold by a bunch of different retailers (same device but storefronts can change the branding) on Amazon, Temu, AliExpress, etc. that is deadly.
Here's a review demonstrating on stuffed animals.

Hey Masto, I have a banking/money question! I'm a US citizen who lives abroad, and I recently traveled to the US for a camp workshop job thing. The job paid me in the form of a check, but here's the thing: banks in Finland (where I live) do not accept checks. They will not let me cash or deposit this.
Also another fun thing, because I do not live in the US, I cannot typically open a bank account in the US and I actually closed my previous US bank accounts because they don't service customers who live abroad.
Any suggestions on what to do? lol

a bunch of readers: you mean ....like... the blood...?
me: :blob_melt_sob: well that's a no
