Oh nice! I'm jealous! I think I'll be able to retire here in maybe another 15-20 years. 🙄

I was dropping off my car at the shop this morning for some routine maintenance. The guy that was taking my details looked..... well...... horrible. A little disheveled and huge bags under his eyes. He apologized to me and said he only got 6 hours of sleep last night.
Now, I'm not 100% he wasn't just loaded at work, but 6 hours??? I got barely over 5. That's not even rare for me. How much sleep do people normally get??? 6 hours I'd feel pretty damn rested. I haven't gotten 8 hours for a week.

Ah, I spend an embarrassing amount of time each day just keeping up on the current events. I like to cover the same things from different sources to try to understand perspectives. A hypothetical AI (this doesn't exist) that could summarize news reliably and combine facts from multiple sources would be a huge time saver for me.

Musk is very much a questionable source as well. He's built a fortune on overpromising and underdelivering. I expect more of the same since it's been so successful for him in the past.

This sounds interesting, but I'm taking it with a truckload of salt. The information source couldn't be more unreliable.

It probably would have bothered a much younger me having things shift like that under me, but since I got married and had a horde of kids, I'm just kinda used to things moving around. The other morning I opened my refrigerator and one of our cats walked out of it like it was no big deal. Didn't seem the least concerned. I have no idea how long she was in there. Not super long since I'd seen her around that morning. She just snuck in when one of the kids was digging around in there.

I'm not sure how anybody thinks this is going to work. It seems to imply a massive misunderstanding of what VPNs are and how they work. I mean, I can stand up a Pi at my brother's house in Nevada and there's no way any service is going to be able to detect that. Even if I'm using VPN service like Proton, the sites I'm going to can't tell for certain where I'm coming from. Honestly, this is just a beat my head against my desk level of stupid.

Historically there's been instances where I really enjoyed having the new features. I'm not even sure what's new in Android 17 though. Nothing has really jumped out at me. If I'm being frank, being in the beta program is almost like having a rolling release of Android. I sometimes find a feature and it catches me off guard. "Huh, how long has that been there?"

The EU should fund open source. So should the US. So should corporations that are using it for any number of reasons to keep their systems afloat.

That just sounds like so much to remember. I was tired just reading it!

How often do you use keyboard shortcuts?
I was reading @npub1080…cr2f's recent blog post about his @npub15f7…m7wr, and he noted that one of the hardest parts of moving from a Mac to whatever he was using at the time was different keyboard shortcuts.
I spend a LOT of time in the terminal, but when it comes to GUI tools, Copy/Cut and Paste is really the only keyboard shortcut I use. Maybe it's still early in my day and the coffee hasn't kicked in yet, but I'm struggling to think of more.

Testing @npub1vpu…608s browser right now. I use #Vivaldi for my daily driver, and #Firefox for my backup, but I can see #LibreWolf taking that backup slot. It's incredibly fast to load pages. Stupidly fast. It comes with uBlock Origin preinstalled, and pages just fly open for me. If you're a Firefox user, I'd recommend giving this a spin.

Yea, absolutely she could, but you should see this computer she's using. If my house ever burns down, it's going to be because of that laptop. The battery is swollen to the point the touchpad has popped out of the housing, and she still uses it. Her company sent a new one for her, but she just doesn't want to migrate to the other computer. It's quite literally scary to look at.

This morning my wife grabbed her coffee, sat down at her computer, signed in, and immediately got a BSOD.
Happy Monday everybody. I hope you had a good weekend.

There's a brand new version of #VivaldiBrowser out there if you haven't already tried it. There's an updated UI and a new dashboard to customize. Also, not a drop of AI in sight.
