Andrew Barsky

My name is Andrew. I will begin a PhD at Jagiellonian University in October 2026. I did my M.S. in Mathematics at University of Iowa in 2023-2026, and I did my B.S. in Mathematics (CS minor) at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2019-2023. I've not used much social media before, so this will be quite an experiment for me.

This map is such a gross invasion of the Flock company's privacy. I'm sure that Flock cares a lot about privacy; how dare the makers of this map do anything that keeps track of them.

Every single person mentioned in the article as being involved in this is either someone that I've never heard of (Ronny Fernandez, Liv Boeree) or someone that I have a rather strong negative opinion on (Aella, Grimes, Eliezer Yudkowski). Also the Botez Sisters, who I mostly know for making silly YouTube videos in order to try and make chess more popular with young people and have basically neutral opinions on because I don't know enough about them.
Anyway, why is Berkeley funding this group? This is a mix of random celebrities with no involvement in AI, and also Eliezer Yudkowski (a cult leader who is probably the single person I would least want in charge of anything to do with AI safety) and Grimes (who is Elon Musk's wife, and I think that this association says all that needs to be said).

I at first misread that as being by Joan Baez, and not John Baez, and I was very confused as to why a folk singer from the 1960s developed a method to identify crackpots.
