OMG I'm so glad that #Uruky search now has tags (what #Kagi and #DDG call snaps).
I've been daily driving Uruky for several months now and it was def one of my nr 1 things that was missing.
So for example you can do:
cyclehighway belgium @wosm
which then does a site: search on the osm wiki for that
Honestly the last couple months have been amazing in what they've added https://uruky.com/whats-new

Using a smaller search engine, maybe one with their own index:
Give them feedback!
I have been using #Uruky for the last couple months, and besides having provided MUCH feedback on the UI/UX, I've also just been giving feedback about the actual results, and that's caused MANY bugs in result processing and indexing to be fixed. Both for Uruky but also for the external search providers they use (EUSP, #Mojeek , etc).
Shoutout to Bruno from Uruky and Marc from Mojeek for fixing stuff so quickly!

TIL there's a new EU paid search engine that wants to rival #Kagi which is great because.... there are various reasons why I'm no longer that happy about Kagi but have yet to see their feature set (even within the search product itself) be matched by any other paid/not-paid search provider.
https://uruky.com/
Gonna start trying them out, I'm sure they're missing like most of the features that make Kagi what made it succesful but they gotta start somewhere and I'm hopeful!

Last year I honestly was so stressed sometimes for various reasons that I just froze at times. That essentially didn't happen this time!
I was able to identify about 200+ things (some small things tbf) that we can improve for next year.

Missed this news from a couple weeks ago. Some nice LGBTQ+ news for once:
European court of justice ruled that SNCF can't ask for gender when people want to buy a train ticket.... because.... DUH. xd

* tbf, you can still get sick.
Vaccination makes it so that even if you do get sick, you won't end up in the hospital.
Vaccination doesn't technically make it so you're super less likely to get covid.

You might have seen the projection that Led By Donkeys did on the Berlin Tesla factory last night iirc.
They published the video of the entire video they projected:

Good news!
This year at #fosdem there is a new email that you can use to report any problems related to cleanliness or full bins or whatever:
cleaning@fosdem.org
We'll do our best to make sure it's handled asap.
Also toilets in general should be cleaner as we have a better system in place! 🤞
(Oh and the bins-overflowing problem in the street with the food trucks should also be fixed)

@nprofile…dun3 I don't have a 3d printer yet, but was going to be a #Prusa either way. The support / unreadability / repairability of Prusa's means I can actually buy one and have it last a really long time. (I can't see myself needing to 'upgrade' to a new model though tbf. So it will need to last a really long time).

"Ontslagnemende federale regering schrapt 3 miljoen euro steun aan projecten rond mentaal welzijn voor honderden jongeren in grote steden"
Ah ja... Gelukkig hebben jongeren geen nood meer aan mentaal welzijn hulp! 🙃

I finally got around to watching the sequel of the talk from last year at #ccc about the Polish train manufacturer that was making trains misbehave if they went to third party service centers.
One of the speakers in the #38c3 talk said a great line during the part where they were talking about how the lawyers and executives from the train manufacturer kept bringing up irrelevant points to the point where I felt like they were just spamming the hearings with nonsense:
"delay, deflect, derail" XD

So if you load bunq... it's casually requesting tracking js from tiktok, snapchat, google and others...... very cool and normal

@nprofile…5sr3 @nprofile…ggsz why it is definitely not perfect, because @nprofile…4fxs automatically downranks any results from pages that are full of ads and trackers, ai slop sites (which often are full of ads because that's the reason they just) also automatically get down ranked xd
So they've been pretty good on that front so far

Hyprland vs Xorg is a weird comparison to me
How about KDE Plasma (wayland) vs KDE Plamsa (Xorg). Wayland works much better than Xorg for me
