The line under it was necessary.

Such a good read: Slop Infrastructure by @npub175v…g8tr
"AI slop can instill a sense that the viewer shouldn't bother to make a drawing (the AI can do it instantly) but also that the viewer should not bother to investigate images. Because of the scale of AI slop and its powerful infiltration of once "social" networks, AI slop suggests there is no need to create culture because there is already far too much of it."

Seriously though, if you've never had flat cabbage, find it and try it. It's like cabbage transcended.

2024-12-07 18:58:41 UTC

May's ranking of cabbages:
1. Flat cabbage (Korean)
2. Savoy cabbage (they're like giant brussel sprouts!)
3. Fermented cabbage
4. Chinese cabbage
4. Red cabbage (I prefer this cooked)
5. Regular cabbage
I actually like regular cabbage. The others are better though.
This has been your cabbage update.

One question that's missing from the transportation infrastructure conversations is: "what is going to happen when all the boomers can't drive anymore?"
- Small town grandma?
- Car-dependent inner suburb person with no kids in their 80s?
- Commuter working in the suburbs who loses their vision or ability to drive, either through disease or injury?
There are people who already can't drive. Accessible mass transit is a matter of equity.

2008. I was doing a science research internship when Stephen Harper became the Prime Minister of Canada. The department budget got slashed more than halfway into the fiscal year.
The PI pulled the two interns into his office and said: "I can only afford to hire one of you for the next 4 months."
I volunteered to leave and found another internship, but that was really rough for the team. We had no idea even more cuts would be coming in the following years.

One neat thing about #Bluesky is that people are building tools like these for transparency that can be picked up by individual users: https://bsky.app/profile/hipstersmoothie.com/post/3lbl2lgnq7c2f

The province of Ontario is legislating itself the power to override municipal planning and building of bike lanes... retroactive 5 years.
Just because cars are losing lanes.
So all of those bike lanes we've implemented across the city in the last 5 years might be torn up through provincial overreach.
Is this enough to get people out to protest?

People complain about Asian food being "expensive" at $16.50 for a large bowl of pho or $18 for a plate of high quality seafood fried rice that can feed 2 people, but they praise the burger place down the street that charges $20 for a burger.
Can we talk about why so many people see Asian food as needing to be cheap?
