How do you decide which categories or topics are included on activitypub.space?
I see !fediverse@lemmy.world is added as a related community but not !fediverse@lemmy.ml (https://lemmy.ml/c/fediverse) is there a reason for this?

did a little clean up on the board today and managed to flash the unedited firmware! and @npub1sl7…lnx3 showed me how to run some demo rgb code so we could test the LEDs since the firmware needs to be adjusted for the lack of keys. currently don't have the enter key programmed on this layout so couldn't turn it on normally.
thanks to [@s_ol](https://merveilles.town/@s_ol ) for making this whole thing and @npub18eq…jdzz @ [@xHain_hackspace](https://chaos.social/@xHain_hackspace ) for showing us the reflow oven and letting us use it much past normal closing time

Codeberg pages is down, and so is the fediverse server that Codeberg's account here is hosted on. Is this a targeted attack?

Have an extra dollar? @npub1vzz…k6rr would put it to good use! I imagine he would use it to help buy some milk for his child or pineapples for his students.
Now is a great opportunity to put some money where it goes directly to someone who needs it most!

Is https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks running the latest version of the AP Discourse plugin? Is that still being worked on? Really sorta important part of fediverse that needs a lot of work, it's still seems very half baked.

where a lived in new orleans people had set up a pirate station that was up for a number of years, they would get a FCC guy who would show up and yell at them and threaten to fine them once a year so they would move the transmitter every time but I don't think they ever actually got the fine

I have been running a fediverse server and trying to convince friends to use these things we are building for many years. I have personally had little success, though I will take that as a failure on my part more then anything. and its not about features per say. I don't think asking friends to donate their money to a thing they don't understand is a solution to anything. I can barely get people using the server I run to help pay for its hosting costs as it is

All the things building clients and servers for the fediverse and the atmosphere are great and I am glad they exist, but adoption is a hell of a problem and you need a team of many people to even attempt this. It is bigger then anyone who's working in this area acknowledges

2026-06-02 11:16:12 UTC

The last CEO of Wikimedia Foundation was ex Mckinsey, the current CEO was a senior advisor at the US National Security Council. Can we maybe stop having these sorts of people in charge of our commons?

MAUs don't even take into account if the user posts anything, the amount of people actually producing "content" for the fediverse is super tiny. But there are many goals from different angles. All the people chasing institutions joining have to take into account the needs of the institutional presence on these networks. They just want to have "reach" but we also haven't given them other tools to measure their reach other then really rough MAU data and tracking likes or virality

there are models that have been made using compleatly open datasets but those are not the models everyone is using to vibe code shit with. I think the biggest issue is that we don't really have precident in international law with how "training" interacts with the laws that are in place.

is this a known issue you have opened on the Mastodon side? (also when I replied to this post Mastodon doesn't auto add Evan's handle to this message even though it adds yours from the same server) so maybe something is up with Evan's account

did any of you look into who these VCs are who just allowed half a million dollars of their money flow into the fediverse? surprised I haven't seen anyone talking about this yet.

I have a very bizarre story involving a major Linux contributor that I once met, and it paints them in a pretty bad light. I have thought about sharing it for a long time but unsure if it does anything positive to air such a story. It was over ten years ago and I am pretty sure this person is mostly retired by now so I don't think they would lose much from the bad publicity but also I don't want to take someone down just because it makes an interesting blog post. What would you do?
