Nostalgia: The repair culture really struck a chord in me, I remember back in the day pulling apart radios for their speakers and wiring them up to an amp and using flower pots as speaker housings. The amp I used was a technics and it had an overload switch in it. I connected a 1200watt car sub to it and 5 other speakers 2 of which were the original 120watt speakers which were so much better than the ones this day and age. I can smell the scent of the speakers writing this.
I used to pull apart everything that was broken. If my bike broke I'd ask my old man to give me instructions on how to fix it then he would go drink a beer and leave me to it. The satisfaction of changing a tire for the first time was so enjoyable.
