Never forget, THIS is Zionism:

That's right - protesting for the right to rape prisoners.
That's Zionism. That's Israel.

As ever, this year has been a great year for music but dull year for chart music. Which is what happens when everything is under the thumb of only three companies.

IF we had a Labour government, I'd lobby them for a new generation of BBC computer which every kid could have access to so coding could be as everyday as it was when I was a kid at an average comp and there were PETs and Beebs all over the shop.
And, yes, of course that would come after free school dinners, proper library funding and the abolition of student fees.
But it would get done.

2025-03-18 21:49:23 UTC

I know some people can choose to hear music in their heads (no external input) and some can't.
What I'd love to know is how detailed is the music you can hear, if you can hear it?
I feel that as the decades have rolled by and I've recorded more music, my headmusic has become more detailed.

Another vote for Kobo Libra Colour - it's waaay better than my old Kindle and I love that it has physical buttons.
I DLed all my Amazon books before the deadline, bunged them all into Calibre, de-DRMed them and then exported them as EPUBS.
Then I connected the Kobo via USB and dragged my books onto it. Easy!
This is a great guide that helped me loads:

I first heard this on #CherryRedRecords #PillowsAndPrayers comp so I must have been 15 or so. 43 years later and I'm still thrilled by the drums, the synths, the EVERYTHING. What a tune.

The film of that is another one that's instant Niagra for me.
And, weirdly, another Matthew McConaughey film!

It's so strange - I know a friend is, say, a huge fan of BDP and so I'll play them the new Lupe Fiasco album and, nope! It's NEW, it's not good, they give it zero chance. Or someone loves New Order so I'll play them Home Front - same thing. Nope.
It's like they can't hear anything past a certain date, it's just locked down at a perceptual level. It reminds me of the androids in the Westworld TV series when they go, "It doesn't look like anything to me."

Way more puzzling for me is how the vast majority of people stop listening to music sometime in their twenties, maybe thirties. After that - nowt. They just listen to the sounds of their youth forever.
Maybe it's some kind of natural process, the same as languages locking in when you're a kid so most people don't learn more than one or two BUT you can do, it's not impossible.
My major weirdness is not the genre I like but that I have to have NEW MUSIC.

Oh, no offence taken, don't worry!
I often have to explain how I can love The Shaggs or Arise Horror or some other band that doesn't sound like daytime radio. Even Igorrr or Venetian Snares which I don't think is that extreme, a lot of people have issues with.
As for what I *do* listen to:

hmmm - I see this as representing ends of a spectrum rather than two types. Like, from utterly twee to megashouty?
