Ahh, thought it sounded familiar. This was all a really good (and much needed) set of reminders for me.
Your gathering of notes reminds me of what some call a Zibaldone or a commonplace book. The main difference is that a Zibaldone (Italian for something like a mixed salad or hodgepodge) is more of a free collection of favorite quotes and notes from wherever you found them, while a commonplace book tends to be more organized and focused by topic. I learned about the distinction from a guy named "Parkers Notes" on YouTube.
I'm slowly advancing through the Institutes at the moment...figured a few pages a day should get me through it in about 4-5 months.
Already shared it with a few friends. They may be surprised since they’re not Nostr users… yet.
Thanks again, and I'll make sure to read more of what you've written!

2026-10-26 21:05:25 UTC

- reply

Wow, that was packed with good reminders.
This one especially hit home. I periodically start well with personal devotion and worship in the morning, then gradually drift into a rhythm dominated by work and other priorities until that time gets neglected:
"That means the fear of God grows through instruction, worship, Scripture, prayer, obedience, repentance, and meditation upon God's character."
Both corporate and private practices matter. Fellowship with others, gathering for church and Bible study, along with personal and family devotion, all help keep us oriented. Living in light of God’s character and the nearness of Christ’s return is part of what guards us against that drift. It keeps the fear of the Lord before us and reminds us to redeem the time as good stewards of what He has given.
Did you pull this from somewhere specific, or was it drawn from past readings? I’d like to share it with a few friends as well.

If you’ve been putting off updates, now's a good time.
In the past few weeks attackers have hit serious flaws in PHP, the Linux kernel, Windows 11, iPhones &iPads, Chrome, popular routers, and AI tools like Langflow and Ollama. Some Python and npm packages were also poisoned with malware.
Take 15 minutes and go through what you own or run:
- Phone, tablet and laptop: install every pending update
- Browser: update it and relaunch
- Router and modem: check for new firmware or possibly replace.
- Servers and Docker containers: update images and packages.
- AI and LLM tools: update them, and never leave them open to the internet.
For each one, decide if it needs an update, an upgrade, a settings change, or to be shut off until a fix exists.
Not sure if something you use is affected? Search its name + "security update", ask your AI bot, or check one of these lists below:

My thoughts were the same. Soon we're going to use Agents apply patches, run scans, etc. Blue/Red/Purple Teams with their mascot AIs fighting each other 😆👾

Yes! It has full compatibility with original cartridges and controllers. I believe it can play any games across regions as well. IE: Games from Japan, China, etc.
Also their Chromatic is the same in that it can play the original Gameboy & Gameboy color games!
I want to buy them both eventually. I don’t care much for online games I was always more of a split-screen/Lan party kind of guy myself.

This is awesome! ModRetro remade the N64 using better components and rebranded now as M64.
Also, recreated the Gameboy color as "Chromatic"!

What is the equivalent YouTube in the Nostr realm? Think I saw some platforms where people could pay them crypto?

Quem diria, né? Como se a gente não soubesse. 🤔🤣

Start cross posting IE: YT, Nostr Tube, Rumble, etc
I've seen a few people on YT who just started advertising in their YT videos, and growing their followers on other platforms so when YT came it wasn't the big blow they hoped it to be.

Man, this is exciting! If I can have a phone without Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc then that's be awesome. I'm aware of Graphene and others.
Any plans to try to make it work on iPhones? Asking as I saw them making quick progress on the M-series.

You and I both! Maybe one day we can have Linux phones, and bootability on modern chipsets.
Ever since I switched to Linux years ago life was so much better. Adblocks, Proxies, Self-hosting, and now AI has been freeing in many senses. If we could only replace YouTube and Amazon too...

Well, this is all news to me. I love IRC, bbs, and terminal-first workload, but I have never heard of aGopher, FidoNet, or emule? Guess I'll add it to my list, and when there's bandwidth check em out.
As for the question i'd say both. Modern tools are better at some things (especially media and reach), but we've also layered on a lot of complexity.

Possibly. It felt like "guilty by association", some people do bad things with a tool, so the tool itself (or anyone curious about it) becomes suspect. Similar to the “we should have an unencrypted web so the government can catch bad guys more easily” crowd. My take is let them use the tools and capabilities they already have, and develop better ones if needed to catch the bad guys. Making everything weaker for everyone so their job is easier is a bad trade and laziness.

Thanks I'll have to check it out! Honestly, haven't tried Armada but I've seen it in some chats. I'm working through self-hosting ngit-ci and possibly a bunker.
Still amazed at the amount of clients, utilities and such in the Nostr realm. Search engines, video platforms, etc...Similar thought to AI, once I connect the dots on the capabilities of Nostr and how to use them to my advantage, skies the limit and I can help out others more.

Okay that makes sense! I couldn't think of anything better in that realm as "Prime" would be too close to Primal, and other names sound too long. Good work on the app!

Interested to see how it works for you. Last year I asked about Monero on a Discord server and people freaked out. I was just curious how it works and how to set things up securely. The admin even said it's best not to discuss it here? lol. Didn't realize it was offensive. If it's going to be the future, might as well learn it now...🤷
