Empty yourself of everything.
Let the mind become still.
The ten thousand things rise and fall
while the Self watches their return.
They grow and flourish
and then return to the source.
Returning to the source is stillness,
which is the way of nature.
~ Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching, Chapter 16

People might ask, “Why do "evil" people seem to live the longest?”
Here is an idea. Sometimes longevity is not a reward, but a special kind of quiet punishment for those who gave out their worst.
Their long life is not an escape from consequence.
It is the consequence.
At the same, it’s been my experience that people who live from a simpler space, where care and love follow naturally from within, find their reward in peace.

I am reminded of a nursery rhyme.. that one is bad luck but two is good luck. 😀 and then it gets complicated. 😅
One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret never to be told.
