[PyLova](https://codeberg.org/quokkau/PyLova) (Python+[Pavlova](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavlova)) is a soft fork of PieFed, aimed at improving the user experience through UI overhauls, empowering users and admins with agency, improved administration and moderation functions, and general bug fixing.
# New in V0.5.0
## New & Improved
- **Shareable Blocklists**: Users can create, maintain, and share block lists of users, communities, instances, or domains. Users can be hidden completely or muffled.
- **Roles**: Permissions have been changed into 'Roles', these offer expanded functionality. Admins can create multiple roles choosing what permissions they can be given, if any. As well as setting upload and storage limits, ability to post video, etc. Posts can be restricted to certain roles for matters of voting and commenting.
- Temporary Bans: Now users can be banned from an instance for a limited range of time. This also fixes the nasty bug that leads to temp bans from Lemmy never expiring on PieFed instances.
- Instance Chooser: Discovers new instances from [Fediseer](https://gui.fediseer.com/), as well as polling other instances. This removes any singular point of authority in seeding new instances and helps disperse discovery. Instances in the chooser also show Fediseer endorsements, and Fediseer tags can be searched for to help find instances based on content.
- New User Experience: New users are better presented topics when joining to help discover content, and a user with no subscriptions is shown a list of popular communities and feeds they may want to join.
## Bug-Fixes & Misc
- Inline Comment Editing: Edit your comments without leaving your position on the conversation.
- Visual Changes: Small changes to create a more unified modern look.
- Bento Tiles: Masonry Tiles are revamped into Bento boxes, masonry-wide has been removed. Removed security issue in tiles.
- Instance Vote Settings: Admins can select if up/downvotes are accepted from an instance.
- Instance Overview: When browsing instances additional information about them is displayed.
- New Fonts: Ubuntu and Open Dyslexic have been added. Ubuntu is now the default font for new instances.
- New Post: Starting a new post no longer changes targetted community when switching post type, non-allowed post types are hidden if that community does not accept them.
- Themes: PhpBB and Trans theme are currently removed awaiting some much needed fixing, they will return in the future.

The Federal Court has ordered Apple to open up its devices to other app stores, as part of a landmark finding that the tech giant violated Australian competition law.
It's a fundamental shift for an estimated 15 million Australian Apple users, who will soon be able to download apps from the open web as well as rival app stores as a result.
The company has until March 2027 to make the changes, [Federal Court Justice Jonathan Beach ruled on Thursday](https://www.judgments.fedcourt.gov.au/judgments/Judgments/fca/single/2026/2026fca1552).

It's a story that's been told countless times. The Western Bulldogs hit rock bottom in 2023, opted to undertake a review into their program, and made wholesale change. Since then, they've made steady improvement, but that hasn't been without some rocky moments along the way.
Now, the Bulldogs are locked into finals for the first time since 2022 and present as a genuine threat in the post-season, rather than simply making up the numbers.
And while their off-field changes have been immense, and an easy starting point when it comes to analysing their improvement, what has happened on field is even more interesting.

Through these practices, they are coerced, pressured and led to believe that their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender and sexual expression can be changed or suppressed.
After years of reports, consultations, draft laws and political back-and-forth, Tasmania finally has a conversion practices bill before parliament.

> ***Children’s Health Defense and RFK Jr publicly dispute recent measles deaths to ‘distract’ from damage caused and question vaccines, experts say***
>
> The six-year-old girl at the children’s hospital in Lubbock, Texas, burned with fever and struggled to breathe. Doctors soon put her on a ventilator, snaking a thick tube down the child’s throat so a machine could breathe for her; they placed IVs to rehydrate her tiny body and they prescribed antibiotics for any bacterial infections that may have taken hold in the weeks she had spent at home battling measles.
>
> But it was too late. Within a day of being ventilated, the child went into shock, her blood pressure crashed and she went into cardiac arrest. She could not be resuscitated. Her family, and the nation, mourned: she was the first child to die of measles in the US in a decade.
>
> Yet some anti-vaccine activists soon began claiming that the girl died from medical malpractice, not measles, revealing a playbook that they are now running in Pennsylvania amid a growing outbreak – a message taken up by Robert F Kennedy Jr, secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and a longtime anti-vaccine activist, as he publicly disputes the rising death toll.
