@nprofile…5rls “On the surface, this ability should render Electron’s benefits obsolete! Rather than write one web app and ship it to each platform, we should write one spec and test suite and use coding agents to ship native code to each platform.”
Now that this thought was introduced, my annoyance at ever having to use Electron again is probably going to go up a few notches.

@nprofile…hclq that said, we should expect Dems to do better when we hold power. @nprofile…hclq Due respect, but in American politics this is not even close to correct especially with this particular election. Trump spent 4 years and only caused harm to the people that just reelected him. “Just fix things" is nice to say when you don't have a party who's entire mantra is to break everything. I can't even think of a Republican policy since basically the EPA that actually helps people.

There are going to be a ton of recriminations over the coming weeks/months, just as there was with Hilary, and they're all going to miss the point. It literally doesn't matter. There was nothing she could have said or done differently that would have clinched it. The longer we pretend there is, the longer we fail to treat the real issues.

I get why Harris and their team thinks they have to do this, but without an incredible amount of luck they have virtually nothing to gain from this. Trump is going to spend 99% of his time not answering questions and generally being incoherent and horrible, and Kamala's going to misspeak about by 1% on a tax rate that effects four people and we're going to get two weekss of clips on that. https://octodon.social/@pzmyers/113107655090209474

So Trump's strategy is to antagonize Taylor Swift, who hates him, using an AI deepfake, which she also hates, in between claiming he's better looking than Harris, and JD Vance is bringing up Epstein? How dimensions of chess is that? Does it just wrap around back to 3? Love this for them.

#askatp @npub1cuf…6f4c Hey guys, this thread (I posted.) Question at the end of the thread. Or more simply, at what point would we find it acceptable to kill John's Honda Civic priced Mac Pro for software updates (don't worry, you can probably still use OpenCore) or more recently, Marco's on-the-way new MBPro?

2023-11-02 03:44:42 UTC

Is this just from using a USB installer instead of the regular update process? that would be pretty wild even still. anyway, tl;dr: this hardware still clearly functions just fine. How do we square the circle of Apple wanting to be a good steward for a green economy and killing this machine (and many more, newer machines) arbitrarily?

Everything is generally more responsive? We're not even talking clean install.
