POOR PEOPLE: I read books to dream of a world that is better than the one we're in.
TRILLIONAIRES: OMG I wanna live in a dystopia SOOOOOOOO bad 😩

that actually sounds like the `.well-known` endpoint isn't being seen by external servers. in my experience, i usually have to stand up an nginx or caddy server specifically to serve the dot files that the logs complain about since nobody documents them.

bummer, i've been eyeballing it for an unfederated friends server. i'm curious if it's any easier to set up in a container.

i heard an engineer i respect say once, "this is a technology, and one too powerful to cede understanding of to fascists."

i definitely think you should take a deep-dive into the architecture behind these algorithms. i think all of the recent innovation is pretty approachable if you start from the beginning of what transformer architecture is and what distinguished it from other attempts.
the truth of the fact is that most of the things people do are largely repetitive, even if those repetitive pieces make up a clever solution. llms are search engines, i've said it for years.

thank youuuuuuu well said.
even then, the only llm models i have personally found useful when experimenting with local ones (ollama) are either extraordinarily small, or extraordinarily focused on the one thing this tech was engineered to do -- transform text.
it has been a genuine game-changer for OCR, for example, because it can fill in characters it does not recognize based on the context of the characters it _does_. i think that's genuinely a great idea.

if i can accomplish a single thing with my life on planet earth, i hope it is educating americans on how there was no 'inter-war economic miracle' in Nazi Germany.
unemployment dropped sharply bc hitler needed bombs made, and the entirety of Nazi Germany's "economic recovery" was predicated on Hitler continually invading neighboring countries and looting their resources.
(Which should sound familiar to anyone who has read about Russia in the past 15 years)

you can always rely on me to deploy a fediverse server on whatever computer i find in the trash, on a silly new TLD domain i bought on sale at the rate of $1 / 6 years.

my understanding is that the mayor of DC has very little power these days bc House Republicans have whittled away at the District’s ability to self-govern.
iirc, that is the origin of the line on the license places, “Taxation Without Representation,” bc they are being governed by the House with no effective seats in the House.

getting my realID in PA was quite literally the most Kafkaesque nightmare I have ever experienced.
It took six HOURS, AFTER we got triaged by the person at the door checking to make sure you had the right documents with you.
The person being served next to me was an Afghan translator who had been one of the few to have been granted asylum during the Afghanistan military withdrawal, and the poor clerk had to tell this poor man that he couldn't get a RealID.
Like, HEAVY SHIT, MAN.

fwiw, not every abrahamic religion sees satan the same way. my religion for example understands 'satan' as a literary figure meant to illustrate the extent to which humanity's selfish, maniacal pursuit of comfort can create out and out blithe indifference for the suffering of others.
like i don't even understand why 'good' and 'evil' have turned into these vast theological concepts. 'good' is self-sacrifice for the good of others. 'evil' is self-comfort at the expense of others.

Did any other autistic people watch them sort numbers in 'Severance' and think, "damn, if I had some tunes on, I could probably do that all day and not even need to be severed"?

I'm fairly ignorant to the process of designing and fabricating, but I have a genuine question. I've seen printed boards with components so dense that it covers both sides of the board. Is this like that too? Or is the complexity / density from something else? Appreciate any answer!! Just love to learn about stuff.
