Why is science fiction so good at predicting the future? Is it because it inspires us to build that (dystopian) future, or were the authors just very smart to think through these things?
I would say that science fiction might be part of the whole process by ideating those ideas. Maybe this future would not happen if they had never written about it?

There's a really interesting article about how the far right and the Kremlin are using AI to mess with elections in Germany.
Generate an AI influencer, book some ads and call it „Free Speech“.
Honestly, it seems like AI is doing more harm than good. Sure, it helps you code your next app faster, but at what cost? It's putting our democracy at risk.

Okay, that's a new scam. Guy goes for a job interview. Everything seems totally legit. They ask him to do a coding challenge. He checks out the repository and later discovers they had hidden malicious code in it (probably a trojan).
Stay safe people ✌🏽

What?! 🤯 There was a Sega Game Gear Successor and it never got released outside the US?
Again it was just a maschine to play ports from the Sega Genesis and nothing independent.

I must admit, this is an excellent version of Tetris.
I also appreciate Modretro’s decision to publish new games on Cartridges. Although I’m not in the market to purchase a Modretro Chromatic, I might consider it if they release a GBA version.
I'm not a fan of the AnaloguePocket. I think the ergonomics suck and the build quality is bad. I also like that the Chromatic has AA batteries. I would love to have a middle ground between both devices.

After collecting a bunch of Game Gear games, I have to say that, in hindsight, the platform is a disappointment. There isn’t much exclusive content on it. Most of the games are just ports of Mega Drive or arcade titles.
I can see why it failed against the Game Boy. Perhaps the weaker hardware forced developers to create unique games instead of simply copying and pasting content.
Btw who designed those covers? B-Movie Filmposter artists? (compare Artwork to the game)

Damn I loved this game in Shenmue (you can go into the Arcade and play it). Probably the own reason to get it. Still fun! But a little bit slow on the Game Gear.

There might be a chance that we see Savestates with SNES cores in the Analogue Pocket.
I currently play Chrono Trigger, and it is really painful to play it without Savestates. It sometimes takes ages until you get the opportunity to find a save point so you can turn off the device.

I browsed a little bit through the AirPods Max Subreddit and some people there are already on their second or third pair since they break after a while.
It usually comes down to:
• Moisture in the earcups
• Rotating the earcups too often breaks the internal cable
What is remarkable is that people continue to purchase them and recommend AppleCare as a solution. It’s a flawed product, people acknowledge this, yet they persist in rebuying it because it’s so well integrated.

Patrick Stewart can’t actually play the flute. That’s why they brought in someone else to play, using his hands as a stand in for his.

Okay, I'm hooked. This narrative game takes place in a single apartment in Berlin, spanning multiple decades of tenants. Very cool!
I'll spoil the ending a bit: The story concludes with a huge cliffhanger, where you receive an "Eigenbedarfskündigung" from your landlord. 😂

In hindsight, the Analogue Pocket is not as great a device as expected. The ergonomics are not well-suited for long play sessions, and the buttons don’t feel very comfortable.
Additionally, some basic software features, such as button remapping, are still missing despite being promised on the roadmap two years ago.

When it comes to retro games, DOS games seem to be really underappreciated. Why does no one remember games such as Wing Commander, Lands of Lore, or Lemmings?
It’s probably because there is no IP owner that cares about these franchises, unlike Nintendo, Sony, or Sega.
