yeah the “small” one was because they suddenly instituted minimum PR count numbers *during calibration* and increased the required percentage of “below meets” to be like, 15%% instead of 7%, and then fired everyone in below because they were a “low performer”. So we all thought we were done & safe for a bit, but nope.

yeah, it’s a total shock. We just had layoffs 2 weeks ago where ~300 engineers were let go. So this massive cut was just totally unexpected

Welp, I got laid off today along with 40% of Block. I’m still totally in shock an have no idea what comes next, but if you have need for a Principal Frontend Engineer hit me up!

Interrupting your doomscrolling with a fun project I did to prevent myself from doomscrolling: a LEGO MOC of the world map from The Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past video game. I used bricks we had on hand, so the colors and shapes aren’t perfect, but pretty dang close for small scale!

so I grew up in NH and there is a whole weird thing in the state about how it supposedly leads the nation in politics, but it’s the whitest state in the country and has gone decidedly to the right so it has been increasingly irrelevant. NH used to have the first presidential primary. And Dixville Notch has a tradition of all residents, of which there are less than 10 (all white and over 50) meet at midnight and vote in order to be the first.

Once again I am imploring you to comment your code to make it clear *why* you do something. I promise you that your code will never be “self documenting” enough for anyone outside of your team to understand it if it has ZERO comments to explain shit

It's my first week as tech lead for the web org at Square, and if you have experience managing a web platform team, I would love to work with you! https://smrtr.io/mvQGs
