@npub1pds…0eyu is such an important voice, especially on #digitalprivacy and #antirepression, and she's written a moving peace on what it means to have lost A/I.

Just listened to the newest episode of @npub178c…wkra podcast with @npub1prs…eh8y. Very fun and interesting listen. Be ready for lots of fun chatting before it gets into #flickrcommons. https://www.librarypunk.gay/e/158-flickr-commons-feat-jessamyn-west/ #library #librarypunk #libraries

Looking to replace my iPhone 8, and I’m trying to decide whether to get a newer generation of #iPhone or finally switch to a smartphone with #Linux. I’m particularly interested in the #fairphone. Anyone have experiences? Recommendations? Preferred Linux distribution for phones?

Thanks, that sounds like a cool option too!

OK, embarrassed to admit that I'm not currently using any sort of newsreader / rss feed app. Any recommendations? Preference for FOSS, and something that works on older and newer iPhones. Thanks!

Still thinking about the final keynote from #ipres2024. Did anyone else feel funny about property law being the possible solution to obtuse licensing practices, etc? This feels potentially very exclusionary and reinforcing income inequality. There are so many aspects of life where ownership is a hurdle to people. I’m certainly no legal scholar, but why are approaches focusing on the commons not an option or not the preferred option? (And yes, there are reasons to critique the commons as well.)

The walls at my hotel are so thin I can hear the person next door snoring 😴

OK, looking for advice. Any recommendations for an #eBook reader that works well with #Linux? Or a reader that comes with #overdrive or #Libby pre-installed? I really don't want a Kindle. I tried a Koba Libra Color because I thought it had Overdrive, but it doesn't in my location. 😭 I mostly want it for reading library books, but even workarounds like #WINE were giving me issues, and it was more trouble than it was worth. #halp #ebookreader

In less than four weeks, I'll be co-hosting a workshop at iPres with Leontien Talboom, Chris Knowles, and @npub1e08…6ee4 entitled "Working on a Budget With WANG Disks and Other Obscure Formats." The workshop is fully booked, but I still hope I'll see you at #iPres2024. There's still time to register here: https://ipres2024.pubpub.org/registration
