It’s just so vexing — a million little issues each of which requires hunting down an answer on a forum somewhere.

My periodic need to post to the universe that Windows 11 continues to be a complete crapshow.

I considered that tbh … almost mentioned it in my post! But the whole enterprise was bad and evil. I worry “honoring the confederate dead” is part of what muddled the original meaning of the day & contributed to the success of Lost Cause propaganda. Maybe it’s ok to grieve their suffering but not “honor” them at least.

Reminder that Memorial Day started as a day to decorate the graves of **Union** soldiers.
No Confederate should be mentioned today other than as a curse on their memory.

It’s hard to separate the signifiers when our overlords are forcing it down everyone’s gullets, even though it’s clearly not the panacea miracle tech many of those same overlords seem to (or need to) believe it is.
I agree it has the same utility potential you mention!
It just feels like the bigger cultural weaponization of it (against workers, collective political power, minorities, and the entire economy) overwhelms the supposed benefits. (1/2)

It makes it feel a bit like defending its utility is ignoring the bigger picture.
But I totally get where you’re coming from! Just commenting on why I’m not sure it’s an argument many people care to hear even if they technically agree. (2/2)

The phrase that keeps coming to my mind since 2022ish: Don’t take my words.
Like… I feel like my words, as imperfect and unpolished as they may be, are such an extension of my body & identity … why would I want something without a body or identity to muddle my relationship with my own words?

I have seen such conflicting information about the water / energy impacts. Some people I follow who seem to share my politics etc have mentioned in posts that the water fears are overblown/fake… but the propaganda is so thick everywhere around this stuff.

Roughly half of Edgar’s personality was “fuck you, pay me.”
Which we learned a lot from, honestly.
The other half was a mix of neighborhood snoop, bantam weight boxer, and court jester.
Tough cookie. Serious fool. Boss.
Goodbye, bestest boy.

I feel this too - the whole project feels tainted (cursed?) to my nervous system … it’s prevented me from really learning enough about it to have an informed perspective in my work life. (Like, ok even if it was created with giant moral issues, how is it actually useful and not bad for people in how we apply it to things)

Reagan’s “most terrifying words = I’m from the government and I’m here to help” was so bad for us. Thr 80s onward really undid a lot of earlier generational work around civic pride & citizenship & public service. What a loss.

My understanding is Novovax is still an older formulation (or rather new formulation for the older version of the virus that’s still fairly prevalent but not the emerging strain?)
Bur still very effective — I think some people choose it because it tends to cause fewer side effects for some with complicating health conditions?
