We have been working on stability improvements for both website and search to better cope with all the load we are handling recently, with more to come. Plus bug fixes and some link blocking.

#MusicBrainzServerUpdate, v-2026-07-30.1
We’re happy to release our first MusicBrainz Server update since the schema change, following our migration of user accounts to the MetaBrainz website, which we’ve been spending most of our development time on until now.

#MusicBrainzServerUpdate, v-2026-04-27.0
Mainly a very substantial rewrite of the external links editor code, to make that section of our editors more efficient. We also fixed a few long-standing links editor bugs - please keep reporting any issues.

Servers are under heavy load from AI scrapers/bots, which is causing intermittent service slowdown.
Some users may also be caught in our IP blocks, aimed at these scrapers - if you suspect you might be blocked, please email us at support@ -a

20 years ago... we announced the first commercial project built with MusicBrainz data!
What a rush it must have been to get confirmation that the MetaBrainz model can work commercially - that you can license public domain data, to everyone's benefit!
Sadly Música Linkara has been taken by the tides of time, but since 2006 we have had countless commercial supporters of MusicBrainz data, allowing our (now much bigger) server pool to keep serving CC0 data to the world.

Have you ever wondered “was the recent MB slowdown due to mass-IP AI crawling again?”
The answer is almost always “yes” -a

I swear the only reason my OCD-ass ever joined the MetaBrainz dev chat (about a decade ago) was to complain about singles sorting above EP’s in MusicBrainz.
Dreams do come true. Never forget your roots. Stay humble. We made it to the top fam 😭🙏 -a

Big nerd news: Harmony, a streaming site release aggregator/importer for #MusicBrainz (https://harmony.pulsewidth.org.uk/) quietly dropped shortcuts to seed recording (individual songs) relationships with their specific streaming URL pages.
Recording relationships have gone off the charts - literally.
This huge increase in track-specific data may also open doors for @nprofile…3l6q matching, and for others who use our datasets. -a
