So people hired for their loyalty to the President over their qualifications are making the Keystone Cops look like Sherlock Holmes. Who could have predicted it? 🤷‍♂️

Congratulations. Of course, now you have to hit Wikipedia and see whether your new IP has been part of the cover up of the failed parental controls controversy and see how you feel about it.

President Trump has attempted to remove commissioner and chair of the Federal Election Commission, Ellen Weintraub. One of six commissioners that serve staggered terms on the independent agency, Congress has required that no more than three commissioners may be of the same political party. This is the second attempt to fire members of independent agencies, that Congress has insulated from removal without cause by President Trump.

1/20 FAA Director fired
1/21 Air Traffic Controllers hiring frozen
1/22 Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded
1/28 Buyout/retirement offer sent to almost all federal employees
1/29 First mid-air collision in the US in 16 years.
They starved the function by understaffing and made them afraid for their jobs which might actually be distracting. Nevermind that there’s airports operating without ATCs because they tried to privatize and low ball the ATCs who just threw up their hands and quit.
But tell me again about how it’s due to DEI hiring. 🤦‍♂️

The same world that we told (as in “shouted from the rooftops”) people like Liz would come to fruition if Roe and its progeny were overturned.
Better late than never to figure it out, I guess.

I think the big concern with another Trump term is that there *won’t* be people standing in the wings telling him what to do. He’d be Trump without guardrails and with immunity.

All feminists aren’t women and all women aren’t feminists, so being anti-feminist must have nothing to do with hating women.
Anyone else see the problem here?

Soviet-style antisemitism is still antisemitism.

As @npub1ywm…qdga can attest, I recently dealt with unmasking this thinly veiled Soviet-style antisemitism. These folks have bastardized the word “Zionism” into whatever they want it to mean, rather than what it actually means. Much like how Jews have been morphed into Schrödinger Jews to be whatever the person who opens the box wants Jews to be.
I regularly state that Zionism is the belief that Jews are a people, one people, with the right to self-determination and self-defense in their ancestral homeland. It’s not Likud’s platform. It’s not incompatible with a two-state solution.
And if someone questions why I include both self-determination and self-defense, they clearly have no idea how Jews were treated for 2000 years in the diaspora.

Different streams of Judaism vary, but the general rule is maternal. If your mother is a Jew, you’re a Jew.
Paternal Jewishness is more complicated and has varying answers that are too detailed for this post.
However, historically, Jewishness was also racially defined by oppressors. For example, Nazis defined Jews based on the number of Jewish grandparents a person has.

I had one Socratic jackass first semester first year. The others used it, but not to wallow in being douchebags. And second semester, far less. Once second year rolled around, the jackassery completely disappeared.

As someone who passed my state on the first time around (which a pretty high score on both the state and multi state sections), I can say that I have many colleagues that didn’t. We hate it for them because it sucks and we all know that it’s bullshit academic hazing. The bar exam did not establish my competence in practicing law. It established my ability to take the bar exam. The MBE particularly had questions that were written to trip people up, not test their knowledge, with one or two words in lengthy passages that could change the answer. In fact, they often reused questions with those changes.
And if I had had to work while studying, I don’t have confidence I would have passed. I don’t think people who need to retake are any less smart or knowledgeable. I just feel bad for the money and time they have to waste. And no bar is worse for that than California.
