I read that today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story, There Will Come Soft Rains. Yes, it is today.
> “Today is August 4, 2026,” said a second voice from the kitchen ceiling, “in the city of Allendale, California.”

My teenage daughter told me recently that when her teacher tries to click an "AI summary" of something, her whole class yells at the teacher not to do it.

I love doilies! My mother has made beautiful doilies, but hasn't crocheted them in a while. Her grandmother was the other doily maker in my family. I still have some of my great grandmother's Christmas crocheted Christmas angel ornaments.

I love it! I recently had the thought that a craft I should start making for gifts is embroidered dish towels! The only problem is that I haven't embroidered anything since I was about 11 years old.

I use Synology's DDNS service to get around not having a static IP. That service is tied to having a Synology NAS, but there are definitely others. I've heard DuckDNS mentioned.

This looks familiar. It looks like they also had something called "Zoom", and I don't remember what that was. Just searching, maybe?

I was delighted to meet Sarah Beth Durst and Sangu Mandanna at The Ripped Bodice bookstore in LA last night.
I look forward to enjoying their newest books, The Enchanted Greenhouse and A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping.

I think one thing that would make a huge difference is if we stopped treating companies like people and made sure all people were treated like people.

I'm checking out free web hosting providers that can be used for fun and personal websites.
I wanted to know what to recommend to people who want to make their own website, so I decided to try things out for myself!

Ok, I got two mixed up. Infinity Free is one of the only ones on my list that supports php. But I didn’t have success setting it up. DNS error. I plan to try again though, because someone said it had worked for them. Maybe there was something wrong that day.
Tinker Host is still to try and lists php support.

Glad you like it. I still have more places to test. It’s amazing that there are so many options right now.

It was not my intention to defend billionaires.
I spoke of the motivation of caring for others compared to the motivation of defeating an enemy.
I suspect we agree. My compassion leads me to support good government programs that help people, in addition to whatever comparatively small help I can give as an individual. I am motivated by love in both cases.
The presence of billionaires is a symptom of great injustice, damaging our whole world.

We certainly can do both, but not everyone will care to do so.
Finding an enemy to blame and hate is easy. Having something to defeat is exciting.
Helping people is hard. It requires compassion and empathy. It is not glamorous or exciting. It is serving and truly valuing others and loving them.

Thanks! Fantastic review setup. That's an interesting detail about posting URLs on the fediverse. I wonder how many others are experiencing that.

Coffee people of the internet.
My electric coffee grinder has broken. Should I replace it with the same model, or get a different one?
I have the OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder with Scale. I've used it multiple times daily for about 3.5 years. I brew aeropress, electric drip, and cold brew.
After examination, it looks like part of the bean hopper is broken, causing it to not grind properly anymore. I don't see a replacement part available.
