I used GPT-4o to try to make a realistic version of Yukon Cornelius. First it gave me a very yassified version, but it accepted feedback to make him more canonically burly. Then I ran out of free generations.

This preview should read “Trump says he and Putin have agreed to talks to end Ukraine war.” But hey uh won’t the leaders and people of Ukraine have something to say about this https://www.wsj.com/world/europe/ukraines-return-to-pre-2014-borders-is-unrealistic-objective-hegseth-says-9a1ebfd7?st=7bAVMa&reflink=article_copyURL_share

“The language upon which the lexicographers eavesdrop has become wild and amorphous: a great, swirling, expanding cloud of messaging and speech; newspapers, magazines, pamphlets; menus and business memos; Internet news groups and chat-room conversations; television and radio broadcasts and phonograph records. By contrast, the dictionary itself has acquired the status of a monument, definitive and towering. It exerts an influence on the language it tries to observe.”

I'd love to read a book (or a blog) that would be something like the AI Anarchist Cookbook. Poison the corporate data sets! Open-source everything! Death to copyright! Train on your own data! Eliminate all rent-seekers! Disrupt every attempt by Big Tech to seek returns on capital or extract surplus value! Every computer, every community, every sentient being is sovereign!

Besides being shrewd and sensible and an act of political and economic protest, building websites is also incredibly fun

I bought a (relatively inexpensive) Martin acoustic guitar. Totally ready to grow out my hair (really, I’m halfway there) and be that dude I was in college again (the guy who kind of knows how to play “Wish You Were Here”)

Do you have a favorite song from Neutral Milk Hotel’s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea?

I may be a homesick child of the 90s but I just love editing HTML in a text editor

@npub1typ…c8hh Oh -- one addendum I'd add to your ThinkPad post is that it's 100% the T-series ThinkPads that are built like that and work like that. A lot of the other Lenovo laptops (including ones they try to pass off as ThinkPads) aren't nearly as durable or customizable and they have keyboards just as shitty as every other company’s

It’s bad for both Amazon and AI if they get permanently associated with low-quality noise crap. Are we going to need to use AI to filter through all the content created by AI? https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/05/travel/amazon-guidebooks-artificial-intelligence.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
