Birch oil and tar is distilled from Birch bark.
For home use and assuming you live in an area where you can get some bark a very simple two can distillation will work.
Have to rush now, will do my best to find a decent description or yt film this evening.
Birch sap is valuable, you can only tap it in springtime, it can be boiled dry for sugar.
Most of the Birch sugar you can buy is adulterated or probably completely fake.
At least one canadian company was caught recently
