The issue with CA is that it was looking to be between Swalwell and Steyer. When Swalwell dropped out, Steyer did not pick up those voters. The voters went looking for someone else. Becerra rise in support took time, and he ended up winning the primary.
Maine is smaller, and I think that a convention with over 600 Democrats could give voters a candidate that reflects what the primary indicated: Maine wants someone with a progressive platform.
