⚡️🇦🇺 NEW - Australia’s eSafety Commissioner, Julie Inman Grant, wants new powers that would let her office ask social media platforms to intervene when someone is targeted by a large group of users.

She said the current system focuses too much on single posts and not enough on coordinated harassment.
According to Grant, “the cumulative effect of a pile-on can be just as harmful, if not more harmful, than a single post.”

She also argued that platforms should have “a duty to protect” users targeted by these coordinated campaigns.

Under her proposal, platforms could be asked to take action against involved accounts, including suspending them if necessary.
