So I had ~100 formatted text files that needed to have one specific string changed in a specific column on a specific line. A trivial problem, but I’m lazy so decided to try Chat GPT. Gave it a carefully crafted prompt and it spat out a Python script as well as a Bash script. Both barfed on attempting to execute. Wasted about an hour trying to tweak the code to get it to even run. No luck.
I then whipped out Emacs and recorded a macro that did the trick. Took me about 5 minutes.
