The dude literally ran a coup attempt when it was his turn to cede power last time, and the US government didn't do shit to the guy. Sure they made a bunch of theater about it, in the year leading up to the election, but that's all it ever was. I don't think anyone genuinely believed those cases could have proceeded to completion in the time they had to run them, by the time the charges were laid. Soon as the SCOTUS made their ruling about the president basically being legally bullet proof, Biden should have taken care of business - but that clearly didn't happen.
