I have a friend with a $1500/month car payment. Last December my 20-year old car finally died. I picked up a 2022 version of the same vehicle (26k miles) for the same price I bought the last one new. Paid cash. We‘ve traveled together. He flies business class. I don’t. I just him meet him there. He’s paid as much for his flights as I do for the whole trip.
I make a bit more than he does, but my net worth is significantly higher.
