I'd like to think I could still be writing actual code a decade from now, and beyond. Still find it worthwhile learning new languages & ways to do things.
But maybe this is simply unrealistic? If the overall vibe about the future of coding right now is for real.
In which case maybe I need to more serious consider: what next?
Especially considering I spent a decade doing a very good job of ensuring I will probably need to work until the day I die. I chose a path that meant I didn't "invest" in a home (never really wanted to TBH, TBF), destroyed all savings, didn't contribute to pension schemes, and seemingly also destroyed dual-income household situation. So it's probably hand-to-mouth for the rest of whatever time is left for me... amd if the day comes that I cannot do that as a software engineer, my sole employable fallback skillset, then what?
Future dread pervades.
