Counterpoint: a several hour outage yesterday, that started sometime after midnight and continued until about 9am and required a call to tech support for them to fix things.
IMO, outward-facing services like email and social media are likely better served off-prem, because you don't want stuff like ISPs not having enough external IPs for all their customers, or random outages (power, internet, hardware failure, etc.), to cut those services off.
