This was seen as a threat to the misconception about gendered bodies exactly as you stated it, so segregation was introduced by men to enforce this lie against a more nuanced reality.

That the strongest man will probably be stronger than the strongest woman doesn’t mean all men are stronger than all women, and yet this is what the IOC, several sporting bodies, and you have chosen to believe and unjustly enforce.
