I’m not Black.
My immediate reaction to that Converse ad was “wtf Converse is rage bait lynching to sell shoes.”
It’s obvious to anyone with the slightest understanding of American history. And that’s the point. It is not an accident. It’s a dog whistle at a time of white nationalist revival to sell shoes to America’s largest racial demographic. It’s deliberate. And that’s the scariest part of it all.
