I predict Catholic apologists will deal with this by claiming the female Vatican president can be seen as a sort of "queen mother," and say that it's a wonderful typological connection to their Marian doctrines.
I'm calling it. The Pope is called the vicar of Christ, this woman will be called the vicar of Mary. Hilarity will ensue.
