Commenter: haha, sometimes I just write like AI, so I feel called out! I don’t use those weird dashes though.
Me: Actually, you seem to use a lot of them! Perhaps you have a well-trained animal who knows exactly when to nose the hyphen key twice in a row?
Commenter: Well, I didn’t say I never used AI, did I?
Moral of the story: Change your punctuation settings. It does wonders for spotting AI content. Or don’t, and remain blissfully ignorant. I can’t decide whether I wish I’d done that or not.
