After transitioning to European digital services and adapting to the new experience, there's an important next step we should all take: leaving reviews online, particularly for small companies and open-source projects.
By downloading these apps and leaving positive reviews, you help boost their visibility in the algorithm—at least for a while, before BigTech corporations potentially overshadow them. :p
You also help others in finding better apps. Even if they aren't worried about privacy, digital sovereignty, or the environment, by boosting the visibility of better apps, we indirectly benefit those people that typically choose apps based on what's featured at the top 5 of an app store.
Most of the time, we appreciate a simple principle:
If you like something, share it with everyone and help promote it. ♥️
If you have complaints, reach out to the company support for assistance or to suggest missing features. 🏗️
Avoid giving 1-star reviews to devs who work for free to build open-source apps for you just because they're not perfect yet.
Similarly, don't harshly rate companies and organizations that are doing their best, especially when competing against global tech giants with decades of development and vast resources.
Help promote European alternatives to reach a wider audience. Help them improve. Be kind. 😉
