The thing you understand about TF2 getting it's source released in new SDK update is that Valve aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts or as a token of good will towards community.
They are sick to the stomach of their community clinging to an old game Valve clearly communicated it has no interest in maintaining, constantly whining and demanding action.
This is basically "Fuck off and do it yourselves, then, we ain't lifting a finger for this old scrap".
