I actually agree with doing this but for a completely different reason. South Korea is in a well known demographic death spiral. It doesn’t make sense to send a single soldier to defend a country that will become a glorified retirement home by mid century. Also, if the DPRK was going to Zerg Rush the DMZ, they would have by now. With current demographic trends they won’t have to.
